Summary/Abstract: The contribution outlines different aspects of users and their engagement with the virtual world Second Life. The author of the contribution focuses primarily defining the basis of the virtual world Second Life and interpretation of the results from quantitative analysis in a form of a pilot questionnaire. Based on the theoretical knowledge, which is determined mainly by foreign authors the definition of Second Life is explained from different aspects. The author demonstrates main incentives of Czech and Slovak residents, who actively engage and spend time within the virtual space. The results from the questionnaire serve as a guideline to creating own virtual space in Second Life to promote the Faculty of Mass Media Communication.
