Summary/Abstract: This article deals with the subject of ambiguous relations and communication difficulties between man and God in selected lyrics by Hubert “Spięty” Dobaczewski, a songwriter and vocalist of the band Lao Che. The interpretation focused on the songs from the 2008 album Gospel (“Dear Lord,” “Hydro-Hell-Ascension,” “To Joseph Carpenter’s Son”), which are reinterpretations of biblical stories. The leader of the group makes the themes familiar from the Holy Scriptures more modern and “everyday,” shapes his lyrics in a specific way, puts emphasis on humorous stylistic and content manipulations, while showing how the expectations of God towards man, and man towards God differ.
