Summary/Abstract: The Song of Songs is a well-known but not so well understood book in the Old Testament. There are eight chapters full of love poems. Hardly any other writing of the Old Testament has experienced as many interpretations and only a few texts were so formative for the culture of the Abendland. The considerable solidarity between Jewish and Christian scholars makes one thing clear above all: Judaism and Christianity fall back on the same sources! The Song of Songs teaches its readers the value and dignity of love as an indispensable link between man and woman, as well as between believers and Jesus Christ.
