Primary Religious Consciousness in the Development of Civilizations

Summary/Abstract: Recently, there has been a growing tendency to explain the peculiarities and features of religious consciousness in its various aspects bymore openly or covertly suggesting their meaning and significance. This trend in its own way intersects with the accelerated "democratic" marginalization of religious consciousness in Western countries and the destruction of the religious bases and roots of civilizationl. The author associates the return to religious consciousness with geopolitical phenomena – the civilizational and imperial heritage is increasingly concentrated in the rivalry of world powers. This article discusses the primary significance of religious consciousness and of the sacral spiritual cosmogonic worldview that emerges in research on ancient civilizations as well as in ethnological and anthropological studies in Latin America and other regions of the world. Using the examples of the two ancient centers of civilization, Göbekli Tepe and Chavin de Huantar, the ideas of ontological cosmogonic perspectivism, which are becoming increasingly entrenched in ethnological research, are unfolded and discussed. In the aspect of "return" to the religious consciousness and the sacred plane of the world structure, the question of the challenges and perspectives of the development of Western civilization is considered.
