The article attempts to present the comparison of two translator’s achievements: Zbigniew Dmitroca’s Radio Swoboda and Jerzy Czech’s Wdrapałem się na piedestał. The anthologist’s work is considered here as both the act of translation and revelation — joining the translation of literary texts and their compilation in anthologies with scrutinizing the particular writers and literary phenomena as well as the process of translation itself, and introducing a new, transforming quality to the native poetry. A translator-anthologist can be perceived in that perspective as a link between two literary cultures, and also as an initiator of changes and an independent creator who develops, in his own language and on his own conditions, a certain new Polish canon of Russian poetry

The paper focuses on the novel “Uncles” in the context of Vazov‘s poetry and prose of the 80s of the nineteenth century. Emphasis is placed on speaking in the story. It argues that through the words the characters say their claims of self-importance. They can talk about everything, because their words did not originate anything. Another commented thesis is the metamorphosis of uncles, traced in “Uncles” and the novel “Under the Yoke” and Vazov concept of philosophy of history.

Motivul Avestiței în demonologia populară românească

Our research follows the demonic perspective on Avestiția′s activity and life. Considered today as a demonic character, she is highlighted by an activity defined almost exclusively against the killing of a pregnant woman or a baby, through appearances that cause fright (the disease called samcă) and the disfigurement of the "touched" by the demon. Because her history is unknown, the recent popular tradition has made one, Avestiția being the sister of Saint Sisoe, a murderer of children, and hence the generation of his witchcraft activity, which is why she is punished by her brother and by Archangel Michael. Newer theories claim a Semite origin (Lamashtu and Lilith), but we come with another, a totemic one, generated by the demon's descriptions. Thus, by systematizing the researched elements, we affirm that, starting from a totem (of the bear), dethroned by the masculine cults of Dacia, deity turns into a demon and encounters the demonological semite elements, prior to Christianity in our country. Subsequent intervention of Christianity "corrects" the history of the character, turning her into a legend, when Sisoe and Archangel Michael appear. This final formula is known by Romanian ethnologists. Christian syncretism almost immediately generates the incantations of samcă and the "Book of Avestiția," a charm that reveals the name and the real history of the demon, which aroused the attention of Christian syncretism when attempting to kill baby Jesus, defrauded by Michael. Sacred folk literature describes her as an extremely dangerous being, Satan's right wing.

These books of poetry, published in 2011, constitute opportunities for both research perspectiveson the actual tendencies of the last decade and constructing the author’s figure – as a person involved in building his own creative biography through the gesture of preparing a personal anthological project.

The article focuses on two texts by the remarkable Balkan writer, Dubravka Ugrešić, in which she introduces questions of emigration, identity, belonging to the nation, the community, as well as questions such as what it is like to be a writer writing in a small language, is there hope for the literature written in Slavic languages, how resistance makes sense in a world where the ability to adapt is everything. Among the non-hypocritical messages of Dubravka Ugrešić's novels there is one that states we must learn to live with bitterness and deceit in a world where the best thing one can hope to leave behind is but a footnote to earn his ticket to eternity . The narrator in Ugrešić's texts is the eternal emigrant crossing different worlds, an image of the unloved, lonely, space-traveling storyteller who may have nothing else but his thousand and one stories, and the exact words that might save someone

FOLK LITERATURE OF THE HUTSUL MINORITY FROM BUKOVINA

In this project, we aim to make a general approach to the folk literature of the hutsuls minority in Bukovina, in order to observe its specificity in the context of the multi-ethnic folklore existence of the population in Bukovina. In this regard, we have brought up hutsuls legends, proverbs and stories that capture the collective mind and symbols that still prove the hutsuls population's inclination towards mythology and archetype. First, we made a brief introduction that considers the presentation of the hutsuls minority from a historical and ethnofolkloric point of view, followed by a review of the importance of the existence of popular literature in Bukovina. From general to private, we analyzed some literary facts from the folk creations of the hutsuls: carols or doines of the dead, the specific song "Hutulca", spells for the sick, love spells, legends with outlaws, proverbs about village life, family relationships, etc. All this proves the existence of an ethnofolkloric space that tries to preserve the folkloric manifestations, even if the ethnofolkloric dynamism that the current society shows seems to offer a pessimistic image on the folklore. Especially at important events over the year or in their life, the hutsuls keep the traditions and customs, in which the story, poetry or song are key symbols without which the celebrations would not have the same meaning. The Hutus, especially the elderly, demonstrate, through the secluded life they lead in the mountains and their simple way of life, a return to archaic values and sacred time that Mircea Eliade frequently mentions in his studies.

THE SUICIDE OF THE LITERARY WORK

For many writers, the road to suicide was a last resort, a road to no return, but considered a savior. According to Cioran, a written book can delay the suicidal gesture, for this reason, it is considered as a burning flame that lingers incessantly in the artist's consciousness, which he keeps alive. "It is often said that there is a fine line between genius and madness, or that geniuses are misunderstood. Most of the time we find at least a grain of truth in these statements. [...] they live in an eternal conflict not only with the public, which they hope to impress, but also with themselves -because the author is the fiercest (self) critic. ” Creation is life, and when it dies, the writer's life ends. The writing of works is the medicine that each author administers daily, under the strict guidance of the reading public, an audience that the doctor of his spirit considers. When a destabilization occurs in the writer's life, it automatically reflects on the creation, and often the support of the public and the knowledge of success are hit by the external fluctuations of the transformations that the artist goes through. Thus, the fluency and linear trajectory of literary writings are destabilizing, and the lack of this drug metamorphosed into creation leads to death, the death of the writer, the death of creation. As I explained above, Cioran's words, the burning flame, the book that lasts in the artist's consciousness, keeps him alive, by postponing death, but through creation it is consumed. Thus, we will analyze what is its path that leads to death. Throughout most of their lives, writers find nothing in the social environment that imposes an obstacle or a brake, and even if these things start to appear timid, they do not stop, but look for ways to revive and release, as is the case of Paul Celan and Gherasim Luca, who chose to go to France when they were unable to find a purpose in Romania.

MARIJA JURIĆ ZAGORKA. THE FIRST FEMALE CROATIAN JOURNALIST

Marija Jurić known by her pen name Zagorka, was a Croatian journalist, writer and women's rights activist. She was the first female journalist in Croatia and is among the most read Croatian writers. A vocal opponent of magyarization and germanization of Croatia, she was imprisoned in solitary confinement for ten days for organizing demonstrations against Khuen-Héderváry.

THE HERO IN SEARCH OF MAGICAL OBJECTS. SOME MYTHICAL-SYMBOLIC ASPECTS IN THE FOLK FARE TALE PETREA VOINICUL AND ILEANA COSÂNȚANA, BY I. G. SBIERA

In this article we will identify and develop some aspects regarding the magical objects, found in the fantastic folk fairy tale Petrea Voinicul and Ileana Cosânțana. The text is part of the volume Romanian Folk Stories and Poems, published in 1971, Bucharest. The volume includes both folk material from the props of the popular epic, prose and popular lyricism, collected by I. G. Sbiera, from the Bukovina area. In general, folk tales show us the journey of a hero, usually the positive character, on a mission, more or less complex. The supporting text, which we choose for a mythological and symbolic discussion, includes a series of elements that are the subject of our research.

EXILE – THE ROAD TO AN OPEN IDENTITY

The term exile refers to the condition of those who had to leave their country for various reasons. The issue of exile is directly related to the “lost object” that constantly returns to the mind of the subject, the loss of the birthplace being constantly represented by the exiled person. The exile is the bearer of otherness in the host country, illustrating the type of the foreigner, a condition that shows the illusory character of belonging. The process of exile is a psychic process whose most important dimensions are the sudden separation, the excessive identity changes, the formation of trauma. This can be understood as a destiny of its own that turns out to be tragic. Exile thus constitutes the transition to otherness, to a search for identity in an unknown space. It is he who produces complex relations between inside-outside, before-after, space-time, separation-rediscovery, native country-country of refuge, native language- foreign language or exclusive language-occasional language, etc. The exile occupies a central place in this issue, because he is the one who crosses the border of a new space, therefore, he is the bearer of alterity in the adopted country, illustrating the type of the foreigner, a condition that reveals the deceptive character of belonging. It is the exile that can cause the symbolic loss of the subject.

THE RECEPTION OF PAUL GOMA IN ROMANIA AFTER DECEMBER ’89

Most of the time, the image of the opponent Paul Goma overshadowed the image of the writer Paul Goma. This work aims to identify and illustrate the main reasons for which the dissident will refuse the idea of returning to Romania even after the fall of communism. We will focus on the main controversies which appear around his literary work in Romanian literary press.

STRANGE HUTSULS STORIES-CASIAN BALABAȘCIUC. FOLK LITERATURE OF THE HUTSULS

In the present study, we created an overview of the popular literature of the huts of Bucovina, starting from the volume of stories of the writer of hut origin Casian Balabașciuc. The popular literature specific to the shacks of Bucovina starts from a symbolic interpretation of the world that the shacks often considered hostile or mysterious. Casian Balabașciuc's stories surprise the reader by presenting a world of simple people, with all their rituals, traditions and beliefs. The popular literature specific to the huts is based on animistic beliefs, the transmission of strong sacred values and the existence of a mysterious life, which unfolded as they pleased in the middle of the forest.

TRANSLATION AND THE LITERARY DEVELOPMENT OF ELIZABETHEN ENGLAND

The act of translating literary works is perhaps the most important tool in crossing cultural barriers, allowing for the dissemination of ideas, themes and art forms. In this paper we will be taking a look at how one such act- the translation of Italian works into Enlisting during the Elizabethan Era- took place; discussing its results and effect on the cultural landscape of the British Isles: from imitators to the development of new forms of prose and verse; but also taking a look at the pushback that emerged from those who opposed to such influences appearing in their society.

BESTIARY REPRESENTATION IN LITERATURE, PAINTING AND CINEMA

In literature we find phrases about fables and medieval stories about animals, synthetic expositions of works with such themes, portraits of people with tricks and stubbornness, stupidity and imposture, the symbolism of the mask, the artistic treatment of the political message, the religious significance of animals, descriptions of animals with moralizing explanations, imaginary narratives. The cinematography completes the bestiary with novel and spectacular moralizing stories.

REFERENCE UNIVERSE IN GOURMET LITERARY DISCOURSE LEXICOMETRIC ANALYSIS

By utilizing lexicometric analysis of a study corpus to describe the way literary discourse functions and how the culinary imagination is constructed through gourmet literature, the components required to conduct pragmatic analyses of the discursive structures unique to this kind of discourse can be identified. In this paper, we investigate how computational methods might be used to find important phrases and semantic relationships in a collection of French short stories. Using Tropes and AnaText software, we verify reference universes that stand out as repeating themes in the corpus texts, starting from the premise that there is a substantial frequency of words belonging to the culinary lexicon in narrative gourmet writings.

Special Issue: Hausa texts from Maradi (Niger) collected by Claude Gouffé in 1968 (with annotations in French)

SALC Special Issue 2024 is documentation of the Hausa oral tradition from Niger. The texts, originally handwritten notes from field research, are the legacy of the outstanding French researcher of the Hausa language and culture, Claude Gouffé (1926-2013). The edition preserves the original spelling rules of the texts and comments on linguistic forms and content. In the presented edition, records of interviews with an informant using the Hausa dialect from Niger are presented in thematically separate sections: ethnographic texts, oral literature texts (stories) and praise poetry (kirari).
