Česká počítačově generovaná literatura a otázka autorství literárního textu

Česká počítačově generovaná literatura a otázka autorství literárního textu

Author(s): Karel Piorecký / Language(s): Czech Issue: 3/2017

Since the end of the 1950s, computer-generated literary texts have been a marginal but ever-present part of many national literatures including the Czech one. This study primarilycharts the history of this phenomenon on the Czech cultural scene. Its material scope extendsfrom experiments in the 1960s (by Jiří Levý and Karel Pala) and the metaliterary reflectionsof Jiří Drašnar with computer-distorted texts to contemporary conceptual procedures (e. g.glitch aesthetics in Impromptu by Roman Haisel) and literary experiments with artificial intelligence.Attention is also focused on its forays into pop culture (Google poetry). More generalquestions on the authorship of literary texts in particular are then formulated, and a proposedpluralist conception of authorship as a collective of human and technological actors is presented, based on analysis of generative literature output.

Not Out of Date, but Out of Time: The Materiality of Zines and Post-digital Memory

Not Out of Date, but Out of Time: The Materiality of Zines and Post-digital Memory

Author(s): Miloš Hroch / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2020

The importance of zines – as documents of history and contemporary media – has recognisably increased in the past decade, and not only media scholars but also historians are paying closer attention to this type of alternative media. We have witnessed both the building of zine archives – digital and physical – and zines being acknowledged as historical resources. Traditionally, zines have been studied from the discursive perspective of subcultures, identities, fan objects and musical genres; therefore, the material component has been overlooked or taken as a matter of course. But with the post-digital situation, the material is more visible and reminds us of the intertwined relationship of the discursive and the material. This paper argues for the possible contribution of media theory to historical research and calls for a deeper understanding of the materiality of zines and the material networks surrounding them as well as the research environment for historians.

Нови подходи за присъствието на българските регионални библиотеки във виртуалното пространство

Author(s): Aneta Doncheva,Eli Popova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 9/2017

The publication summarizes the results of a study carried out within the framework of a thematic project of the Department of Library and Information Studies and Cultural Policy, Faculty of Philosophy of Sofia University: “Evaluation of the information value of the websites of regional libraries in Bulgaria. Designing a recommended website model, reflecting the performance of the regional library.” The publication summarises the results of a study by the Department of Library and Information Studies and Cultural Policy (DLISCP) of the University of Sofia on the "Assessment of the information value of the websites of regional libraries in Bulgaria. Development of a recommended website model reflecting the performance of the regional library." Regional libraries (RLs) are seen as modern organisations, which need to increase the visibility of their capabilities in order to find partnerships and to demonstrate their real benefit to people and society. The websites (Internet pages) of RLs play a role in shaping public perceptions of their effectiveness and attitudes towards their activities and services. In the context of the Information Age, the adequate presentation of RLs in the virtual space is a prerequisite for the full use of their potential and for an objective assessment of their importance for addressing the challenges of the period. Within the framework of a thematic project, a survey of the state of the websites of the 27 RLs was carried out according to a system of indicators presented in a matrix. The websites of 12 public libraries in other European countries were also reviewed, following similar indicators. The collected and systematically organised data serve to assess the state of the websites of the Bulgarian RLs, as well as to compare the approaches to their construction with those in other European countries. The results of the surveys and the comparisons that were made serve as a basis for the development of a sample model for the information architecture of the Internet pages of RLs. The principles for its development focus on modern approaches for the engaging presentation of the effectiveness of public libraries in the virtual space.

Author(s): Paweł Kuca / Language(s): Polish Issue: 02/2024

W drugiej dekadzie XXI w. na rynku mediów regionalnych w Polsce można było zaobserwować zasadniczy spadek znaczenia prasy drukowanej. Wyrażał się on m.in. malejącym znaczeniem i bardzo wysokimi spadkami sprzedaży dzienników regionalnych.

Author(s): Yordana Nikolova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 1/2024

Archaeological research in Sofia has been going on for more than 100 years. As a result, a significant amount of information has been accumulated. A large part of it has been made public, and another is stored in the scientific archive of the Regional History Museum - Sofia. Among its other activities, the museum collects available information, systematises it, and presents it to the general public. A good example of this is the archaeological digital files that have been worked on in recent years. They contain basic data on individual archaeological sites from Sofia and the region, being divided according to ancient infrastructure and discovered structures. Only those related to the larger Eastern Necropolis of the ancient city of Serdica are presented in the article. Systematised information in one place, representing an easy tool for work, helps to preserve the monuments. In addition, the categorised research could also be considered a prerequisite for creating methods and practices for the socialisation of the archaeological sites in question.

Primjena umjetne inteligencije u akademskim knjižnicama u Hrvatskoj

Author(s): Antonija Marinclin,Robert Idlbek,Miroslav Popović / Language(s): English,Croatian Issue: 29/2024

Objective: This paper aims to explore the current state of artificial intelligence (AI) applications in academic libraries in Croatia and its potential impact on library services. It seeks to present the challenges and opportunities in AI implementation and the factors that may influence its adoption. Methodology: To research the application of AI in academic libraries, a mixed-method approach, combining quantitative and qualitative data collection techniques, was employed. Specifically, an online survey consisting of 21 open- and closed-ended questions was conducted. The survey targeted academic libraries in Croatia to gather comprehensive data on the current state of AI implementation. Results: The research showed a low response rate to the survey, with only 22%, as AI implementation in Croatian academic libraries is still in its early stages. The results revealed that barriers such as a lack of funding, expertise, and institutional support hinder wider adoption, along with concerns about AI’s impact on critical thinking and human roles. The lack of training and strategic planning around AI oversight may have contributed to the low response rate, complicating the drawing of firm conclusions. However, the survey did indicate the potential for AI use in the surveyed higher education libraries, as they recognise its possible benefits in work processes and user experiences. Originality: This study is among the first to explore the current state and future implications of AI adoption in academic libraries in Croatia. It provides insights into the challenges and opportunities of AI implementation and its potential impact on library services in the country.

Kartografska zbirka Ibrahima Bušatlije u fondu Gazi Husrev-begove biblioteke i značaj njene digitalizacije za istraživače historije Bosne i Hercegovine

Author(s): Ejla Ćurovac / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 1-2/2024

Professor Ibrahim Bušatlija’s cartographic collection, received by the Gazi Husrevbeg Library in 2019, has enriched the library’s special collections, making a significant contribution to the resources available to researchers, geographers, and historians in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Professor Bušatlija spent years gathering maps, atlases, and globes, and leaves us valuable legacy that, thanks to digitalization following cataloguing, is now widely accessible to researchers. This study used analytical and classification methods to assess the current condition of the collection and evaluate the processes of cataloguing, storage, digitalization, and physical preservation. Scientific research methods were applied, including direct examination of the collection, classification by material type, and comparative analysis with similar cartographic collections. Based on these procedures, criteria for best practices of use were established, covering standards for physical preservation (such as temperature and humidity control and protection measures). Further, advanced digitalization techniques were used to ensure high-quality display, and measures to facilitate access for researchers through digital and physical channels. The analyses provided a basis for proposing specific measures to improve the preservation, organization, and presentation of the collection, thereby enhancing its public accessibility. It was concluded that this collection represents an exceptionally valuable cultural and research resource, and that adapting methods of cataloguing, digitalization, and preservation is essential for ensuring its long-term protection and accessibility, supporting high standards in cultural heritage preservation.

INFORMATION SECURITY COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT

INFORMATION SECURITY COMPLIANCE MANAGEMENT

Author(s): Haris Hamidović,Amina Buljubašić,Edina Šehić / Language(s): English Issue: 7/2024

Compliance is an important concept for information security managers to understand. Compliance means adhering to a rule or set of rules. In the case of information security, compliance refers to the rules to which people, systems, and processes are expected to comply - these are typically laws, regulations, policies, standards, guidance or specifications. Effective compliance management requires a disciplined, repeatable approach to enterprise security management that, among other things, should include development of baseline enterprise security standards - the identification of all the security categories and controls applicable to the organization. In this paper, we talk about the approach that, based on good industry practices, information security managers in Bosnia and Herzegovina can use to develop a baseline enterprise security standard for effective compliance management.

Digitalna transformacija u arhivskoj djelatnosti Bosne i Hercegovine – potreba za edukacijom i strategijom

Digitalna transformacija u arhivskoj djelatnosti Bosne i Hercegovine – potreba za edukacijom i strategijom

Author(s): Almira Alibašić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 11/2025

The phrase “digital transformation” has been increasingly used and is a new concept that will be necessary to implement to harmonize practices with the European path of societal development. Certainly, cultural institutions and cultural policies responsible for cultural heritage will be included in this process. This paper will cover archival activities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and certain digitalization and digital transformation issues. Archival institutions are aware of the need to digitize archival material as their main resource, and certain activities are already being undertaken to implement digitalization. However, in parallel with the digitalization of archival material as cultural heritage, a process of digital transformation must take place for the digital heritage resource to be properly used in the development of the local cultural and creative industry and to make this resource visible on the European cultural market. Our archives must follow European trends in digital transformation, and education and a strategic approach to the problem are necessary to overcome it more easily. In the text, the author provides possible guidelines for a positive step forward in the mentioned issue.
