The subject of the following article lies in library services provided by municipalities in the South Moravian Region. The key objective of this paper is an analysis of library services sector in South Moravia. Assumption of this analysis is to identify the size of the municipality sample that are analyzed, which takes into account the administrative criterion, legislatively enshrined in the law on municipalities, which sets the limit of three thousand people to be able to reach the status of the town. This will be respected, and therefore there will be municipalities with more urban character. The analysis is aimed on the performance of library services, as well as municipal library finance of institutions and their position in the municipality or town budget. Another feature that is taken into account is the institutional background and form of establishment of library facilities within the municipality or its organization.

Digital learning, although it primarily implies the use of information and communication technologies, primarily depends on the experience of reality in a virtual sociality. Therefore, the interaction of librarians, teachers and students in digital reality is as important today as in physical (reality), which makes the process of using, as well as creating and disseminating, information resources even more complex and demanding, but also challenging. Considering the potential of redesigning the role of (school) libraries, turning them into centers of information and media literacy would be a strategic backbone of innovation in modern digital learning destinations.

Through this paper, I’m going to present an overview of the management of collection development in the context of implementing public procurement legislation in the libraries. The approch of this subject from a methodological perspective takes into account the fundamental changes in the way of purchasing publications in libraries, in accordance with the new legislative regulations on procurement and the impact on collections. The collection development as part of the management of collections ensures the coherent and balanced growth of collections, the sustainability of the cultural and educational process as well as the research, the cooperation and sharing of resources at the national and international level. Libraries have proved through their specific functions their role as strategic institutions designed to provide the fundamental cultural landmarks required by a society, with the aim of accumulating, treasuring and enabling the access to the nation cultural heritage consisting first and foremost of different collections and documentary funds as concerns the content and language as well as format and typology. The sociocultural and legislative context and the development of the new information technologies in which libraries operate nowadays is a complex and diversified one. These changes turn the libraries into essential factors in the communities they work with, their specific mission being to provide equal and non-discriminatory access to information and knowledge through the unitary development of document collections, the provision of adequate services and the creation of partnerships and consortia agreements with other info-documentary structures and cultural institutions throughout the country and abroad in order to sustain the academic, scientific and cultural activities.

The subject of the study aims the role, the importance and the ways of framing the bibliography with all its norms in media communication space. It also examines the particularities and new meanings of bibliography that create a new bibliographic reality, which could be called mediabibliography. The applied section includes the bibliographic activity of the USARB Scientific Library, products of which are transferred to the media for efficient searches.

The reference is a complicated process with many steps and strategies to search for information, being required for all types of libraries. However, the unit of measurement in the reference services is also the references. Bibliographic references can be presented in written and oral form. This method is an effective evaluation tool, which results in the improvement of the activity of reference librarians and with advantageous influences on the image in the society or community of the library.

Based on the materials of the period and available information from Prague libraries, the author of the article tries to capture the formation and development of Strossmayer’s South Slavic Library - the Czechoslovak-South Slavic League cultivated mutual Czechoslovak-Yugoslavian relationships in inter-war Czechoslovakia. The focus is on its functioning, goals, and generally on its development - which was not always ideal. It also maps its acquisitions, reading rooms and other activities, and tackles the limits and issues it was facing and which hindered its further development and full functionality. The author also outlines the story of the library before and after the WWII and also how - probably by accident - it served well its original goal: deepening the Czechoslovak-Yugoslavian or Czech-Bosnian relationships.

Tato kapitola popisuje východiska, z nichž čerpá kolektiv tvůrců platformy next-book a která informují přístup projektového týmu k webovým knihám. Kapitola se skládá ze tří částí pojatých jako white paper - nejprve se snažíme vymezit, co je z našeho pohledu webovou knihou. Poté představujeme webové knihy v kontextu a zasazujeme je do kontextu ostatních formátů pro digitální čtení tuto část pojímáme jako manifest webových knih představující jejich možnosti v kontextu současných výzev spojených s vývojem globálního knižního trhu. Třetí část kapitoly specifikuje samotné aktivity okolo platformy next-book, která se částečně snaží tento manifest naplňovat.

V této kapitole představujeme pohled hlavního vývojáře webových knih, který prolíná tři různé perspektivy: popis postupu práce na konvertoru webových knih, zasazení konverze do publikačního prowcesu a vědomou práci se strukturací literárního díla, publikovaného ve formě webové knihy. Přemýšlení nad tvarem webové knihy je podstatnou součástí designování nástrojů pro jejich tvorbu, a konkrétní ukázky problémů a rozhodnutí mohou osvětlit, na jaké vnitřní rozpory narážíme při pokusech o tvorbu webového ekvivalentu existujících knih.

Webové knihy s sebou přinášejí i nové příležitosti a způsoby zpřístupnění obsahu knih z pohledu knihovních služeb a distribuce. V této kapitole chceme přiblížit téměř deníkovou formou, jak vypadal návrhový proces, který vedl k vytvoření zcela nové služby v portfoliu knihovny - služby, která předpokládá interakci člověka s médiem v omezených časových úsecích a snaží se nabídnout téměř až instantní odpověď na čtenářské potřeby člověka pohybujícího se v online prostředí. V závěru kapitola otevře i otázky kurátorství obsahu v prostředí online knihovních služeb.

Tato kapitola pojedná o možnostech pozorování a měření čtenářského chování na webu. Domníváme se, že malí nakladatelé, včetně knihoven, nevyužívají zatím dostupných možností měření a spokojují se se základními metrikami, které však nezprostředkovávají komplexní obraz o samotném čtení. Navrhujeme proto nové dimenze a metriky, které umožní získávat relevantní informace o čtenářském chování napříč webovými knihami.

Prostřednictvím identifikace trendů se snažíme formulovat možné budoucnosti a přemýšlet o (ne)materialitě knihy či čtení v post-antropické budoucnosti. Kapitola je zkráceným a upraveným výňatkem z rozpracovaného disertačního výzkumu, který probíhá v rámci doktorského studia v Ateliéru grafického designu na Fakultě multimediálních komunikací Univerzity Tomáše Bati ve Zlíně.
