Author(s): Atilla Temur,Nurullah Erdemir,Hüseyin Artun / Language(s): Turkish / Issue: 2/2017

The purpose of this study was to examine the influence of the computer-aided animation technique for teaching the lesson unit of “Relationships between Living Beings and Energy” on students’ achievement. In the study, the semi-experimental research method was used. The research sample included a total of 36 8th grade students attending a secondary school in the Ahlat, a district in the city of Bitlis. In the study, the lesson unit of “Relationships between Living Beings and Energy” was taught to the control group students with the traditional teaching method control and to the experimental group students with the animation technique. As the data collection tool, Science and Technology Achievement Test (STAT) was used. The research hypotheses were tested with independent t-test analysis. The results of the analysis revealed that the control group students and the experimental group students had mean scores of 7.75 and 10.65, respectively. In addition, a significant difference was found between the control group and the experimental group. Consequently, teaching with the computer-aided animation technique had positive influence on the students’ levels of academic achievement.

“New Ways of Living, as Old as the World” Best Practices and Sustainability in the Example of the Italian Ecovillage Network

“New Ways of Living, as Old as the World” Best Practices and Sustainability in the Example of the Italian Ecovillage Network

Author(s): Martina Losardo / Language(s): English / Issue: 28/2016

The ecovillage movement is an international network of intentional communities with a focus on social, economic, and environmental sustainability. Unlike other environmental movements, their struggle for achieving a more sustainable lifestyle includes efforts to enhance their living environment, based on the idea that humans are part of nature as any other living being. In pursuing this goal, they often recover traditional knowledge and practices rooted in a precapitalistic rural past, when, as they believe, the relations with the Other (community and nature as well) were more satisfactory than in contemporary industrialized society.

“The Meadow is the Mother of the Field.” Comparing Transformations in Hay Production in Three European Agroecosystems

Author(s): Tommy Lennartsson,Anna Westin,Anamaria Iuga,Elizabeth Jones,Scott Madry,Seth Murray,Eva Gustavsson / Language(s): English / Issue: 21/2016

This research compares the production of hay in three historical European agroecological systems: in northern Romania, central Sweden and eastern central France. We analyse hay production in relation to the entire production system, the local natural conditions, and the variety of ways by which hay production was transformed over time. We found broad commonalities, but also discovered significant differences in each of three historical trajectories. Introduction of fodder crops, crop rotations and mechanization are important drivers of changes in all three areas, although the timing, sequence and causation vary from place to place. There are significant differences in the organization of farm labour, in the role of beef and dairy production, the role of political reforms and the climatic constraints of outdoor grazing which affected the transformation of fodder production. This paper highlights the potential of an integrated, interdisciplinary approach for better understanding the complex interaction of people, their social and economic contexts, and their environment.

„Business as usual” – Nord Stream 2 jako kontynuacja sowiecko-niemieckiej współpracy gazowej z lat siedemdziesiątych. Kontekst historyczny, implikacje dla bezpieczeństwa w regionie oraz polityki międzynarodowej

Author(s): Bartosz Bieliszczuk / Language(s): Polish / Issue: 4/2018

Nord Stream 2 (NS2) is one of the most controversial international projects in the gas industry. The construction of the gas pipeline began in the period of serious tensions between Russia and the West. Gazprom’s European partners ignore the legitimate concerns of their allies regarding the implications of the investment for politics and security. The dispute is somewhat reminiscent of the Cold War period when Germany and Austria established gas cooperation with the USSR. The article presents the current political context of the gas relations of the European countries and the USSR/Russia and the implications of building NS2 for politics and security in Europe.

– Dzieci, czy chcecie wiedzieć, co działo się w tym miejscu wcześnie rano, kiedy dopiero zaczynało się robić jasno? – Taaaak! – oczy i buzie szeroko otwarte z przejęcia. – Gdybyśmy tu przyszli wcześnie rano, byłoby zupełnie cicho. Tylko nad naszymi głowami usłyszelibyśmy stukanie – stuk stuk, stuk stuk. To dzięcioł wyjada nasiona z szyszki w swojej kuźni.

Author(s): Octavian MIlevschi / Language(s): Romanian / Issue: 1-2/2007

The energy security has become one of the main issues on the world politics agenda. Russia, as the owner of one of the richest deposits of energy resources, has become more and more aware of the leverage it can yield by transforming energy into one of its main foreign policy instruments. In this respect, beginning with V. Putin’s first mandate, the Russian administration on the one hand, started an incremental process of nationalizing the biggest companies and marginalizing the foreign private partners with respect to having a stake in the oil industry< on the other hand, Russia started a well-designed campaign of taking over the gas and oil transport network especially in the CIS countries, an undertaking that resulted into the well-known gas conflicts with Belarus, Ukraine and Georgia. Bolstered by the high oil prices and consequently high revenues, some representatives of the Russian political elite began speaking nostalgically about a “liberal empire” in recovery, which would be driven by an important economic weight on the global scene and a more assertive Russia.

Conclusions. Integral assessment of enterprises enhances the economic essence of motivation in the electricity industry and allows it to be used to characterize the ability of enterprises to return to the state of equilibrium, save the settings and go to a new stage of development in terms of the random changes in the external and internal environment. The analysis of certain methods of integral evaluation showed that the taxonomic analysis allows to evaluate the level of components in the system of incentives in the electricity industry dynamics and identify key indicators that have the most influence on them.
