Author(s): Jasmina Zlatarević / Language(s): German Publication Year: 0

Literary scene of our country beginning from the middle of the 1990s years of the last century until nowadays has been divided into two large groups – on one side are the authors who left Bosnia and continued their literary path in another country. On the other side, a great number of authors still live here and face the need to “process” difficult war experiences and find their way out of a kind artistic isolation. This literary display gives itself a task to explore the model of “distant proximity” based on a few short stories from the corpus of the author Dragoslav Dedović A child. A woman. A soldier. A town. All the authors in this anthology were faced with the problem to alienation in their own or someone else’s town. Literary scenario of these authors always vary between two worlds, between two regions. They all are in search for one connection between past and future. Their literary opus is a unique tribute to their former homeland, respectively the critical view of country in which they live now.

Die Balkanstaaten in ausgewählten Werken von Juli Zeh

Die Balkanstaaten in ausgewählten Werken von Juli Zeh

Author(s): Darija Glibić / Language(s): German Publication Year: 0

The paper will deal with various images and stereotypes of Balkan countries in the works Adler und Engel and Die Stille ist ein Geräusch of Juli Zeh. The emergence of stereotypes is often linked to the perception of one’s own and thus to the constitution of a self-image. Juli Zeh is one of the best German authors of the younger generation. The Balkans prove to be the leitmotif in these works. Her debut novel Adler und Engel (2003) has been translated into 31 languages and speaks about drug trafficking and war in the Balkans. In 2001 she traveled to Bosnia and Herzegovina and in her travelogue Die Stille ist ein Geräusch (2001) describes the country and first-hand experiences after the war. In conclusion, it can be said that Juli Zeh does not deal theoretically with stereotypes, but postulates the concepts with which people perceive and interpret the world. She wants to get to know and experience the unknown country herself and introduce her to the people. In doing so, however, she indirectly, subconsciously also produces negatively connoted stereotypes.

Ko je i šta bio Hamza Humo?

Author(s): Sanjin Kodrić / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

The paper deals with the place and role of Hamza Humo’s literary work in the cultural-poetic contexts of Bosniak and Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature between the two world wars. Humo’s literary work is approached from a slightly different, wider cultural perspective apart from the traditional literary history, which illuminates Humo’s literary work in a different way too. In this regard, it is apparent that, as a whole, the literary work of Hamza Humo is not exclusively related to the poetics of expressionism nor does it fully realize all the elements of expressionist poetics, not even those elements which characterize the phenomenon of expressionism in other South Slavic literatures. The primary context of Humo’s literary creation is a more specific context of avant-gardism, neoisms and poetic alliances of the interwar period in Bosniak as well as Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature in general, but there are also other important elements in Humo’s literary creation which have not been more significantly noticed in the earlier understandings of the author’s literary work. These are, first of all, very visible elements of, in Bosniak literary history, more specific poetics of post-revival traditionalism, on one hand, and on the other hand, and by no means negligible, elements that may somehow be linked to the so-called social literature.

Priroda i ljudi u romanu Grozdanin kikot Hamze Hume

Author(s): Sanja Franković / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

Temporal and spacial metaphors constitute the composition of the novel Grozdana’s Giggle. The change of seasons is depicted in a mythical language as an event which is always actualized as a return to illo tempore. Emotional states of the characters are compared to the images of nature, and frequent comparisons can be considered a leitmotif which gives dynamics to the novel’s chapters and follows the change of seasons. In contrast to the rural nature, the inn appears as an inner space where lyrical and epic poems are sung and collective memory is renewed. Rural worldview intertwines with the mythical and the Christian layer. The mythical story about lovers Grozdana and Grozdan is parallel to the passionate meetings of the narrator Ozren and the widow Ivanka. Mythical lovers appear both as part of the mythical narrative and in the consciousness of the characters. The Christian worldview replaces the mythical one after the tragic death of the maiden Grlica. The plot ends in the autumn when summer, people and passions die, and so does the myth – alive only in the days of bliss.

Smijeh i kikot kod Hamze Hume

Author(s): Almir Bašović / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

The text deals with types of laughter in Humo’s novel Grozdanin Kikot/ Grozdana’s Laughter. Considering the connection between female laughter and nature, it turns out that Humo perceives laughter as a lifeprinciple. Relationships that women establish with Ozren as a central figure, but also a narrator in Grozdana’s Laughter, are analyzed in this paper, in accordance with thematic complexes characteristic of the three cultural circles. The relationship between Ozren and Ivanka is seen through the lens of a folk carnival laughter that resides in its relationship with the high ecclesiastical, Christian culture; the relationship of Ozren and Grlica is analyzed in the context of the eleusinian cult, and finally, the article points to the elements of orphism in the narrator’s experience of the world.

Vrisak prirode u ranim pripovijetkama Hamze Hume

Author(s): Dijana Hadžizukić / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

This paper analyzes the stories by Hamza Humo – written and published before publishing his Grozdanin kikot (Grozdana’s Giggle, 1927) – which are recognizable by the elements of a typically Expressionist exaggeratedinner experience to obtain intense emotional expression, in his case, of the nature of Herzegovina. The paper will focus on the following stories: Njihalo (1923), U čaršiji (1923), Babanova beda (1923), Sevdalijina ljubav (1925), Džigit (1926), Policajac broj 37 (1926) and Kaja (1926) (in Bosnian/Croatian/Serbian). Taking into account the thematic center and the central motifs of each of the stories, we will try to analyze the symbolic values of the landscape, and explore how much the natural environment function sonly as a space and décor of the development of a story’s plot, as well ashow much it functions as a symbolic reflection on the suffering of the one, on the one hand, or, it is a symbolic reflection on the ever-present joy of Paneroticism, on the other hand.

Granične figure u zbirci Hadžijin mač Hamze Hume

Author(s): Vildana Pečenković / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

For several decades, the phenomenon of border as a place for writing and production of differences has been one of the most prominent in Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature, culture and society in general. In light of Lekcije o granici, actualized by Nirman Moranjak-Bamburać at the beginning of the XXI century, as well as the claim that literary characters push the boundaries or more commonly collide with them, the paper analyzes the literary characters as border figures in the short story collection Hadžijin mač by Hamza Humo. The main story itself confirms the accuracy of the assertion, but Hajji’s life and death are its full incarnation. A whole series of border phenomena in the collection is closed by Slučaj Raba slikara, as one of the most prominent in BosnianHerzegovinian literature of the first half of the twentieth century.

Human body is very frequent literary theme through Hamza Humo`s poetry and prose. Some protagonists are characterized through forms of body, especially in expressionistic poetry and prose, where body is a place of violence, passion, death. On the other side, human body represents important ethical figure in Humo`s novels with dominant social orientation.

Author(s): Almedina Čengić / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

Destroying the classical structure of the prose text, Hamza Humo in the collection plate with the East, emphasizes a new way of literary expression, going deep into the psychological analysis offered verses oriental heritage and build their artistic expression under the guise of imagination and vision that transcend temporal and location barriers. Recognition of tradition and cultural legacy of the Millennium eastern, oriental influences, as opposed to one local, intimate and intimate, Humo, even in its contrasts harmoniously unite, because in its final empirical understanding they constitute a whole as an artistic creation. In its rarity as to the extent intensified and relativity it, do not stop existed even when completely numb from our senses and become only a vision. In such an atmosphere, poetic creation, which was initiated not only by actual experience, but also associations somewhere in the depths of the human soul, created a whole new world shaped in artistic creation. The world irritates those whom they were verses and level, almost, creative creations, the reader initiates to arouse own feelings and before he remembered.

Author(s): Elbisa Ustamujić / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

In this paper we presented the first anthology of Bosniak literature Biserje in which Alija Isaković offered to the public a representative selection of Bosniak literature from its beginnings to the modern moment. It is especially significant that in the introductory part he established the first solid foundation and model for modern study of Bosniak literature as a separate body of literature, equal to Serbian and Croatian. In an anthological selection Isaković manages to capture the most aesthetically relevant texts of different genres in both synchronic and diachronic axis. With a model of representing top literary quality, he emphasizes the model of creatively stimulating continuity: oral literature, older literature (in Oriental languages and alhamijado literature), the literature of Polet and Let and contemporary literature.

Književnost bošnjaka za vrijeme osmanlijske vladavine u Isakovićevoj drami Hasanaginica

Author(s): Amira Dervišević / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

Inspired by the Bosniak oral ballad, Alija Isaković published the play Hasanaginica in 1981. In an effort to approach the “realities of life, morals and the language of the ballad”, Isaković included examples of Bosniak oral and written literature created during the four centuries of the Ottoman rule in Bosnia in the text of the play. The aims of the paper are to isolate examples of oral lyrics and epic, the frontier-soldiers’ letters and Aljamiado literature, analyze them and establish the functions they have in the dramatic text.

LJUBAV OSJENČENA RATOM

LJUBAV OSJENČENA RATOM

Author(s): Enver Kazaz / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Nedžad Ibrahimović / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Marina Katnić-Bakaršić / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

PRISTUP “BOSANSKOHERCEGOVAČKIM KNJIŽEVNIM TEMAMA” MIDHATA BEGIĆA - O PROBLEMIMA ODREĐENJA I STATUSA KNJIŽEVNOSTI U BIH

PRISTUP “BOSANSKOHERCEGOVAČKIM KNJIŽEVNIM TEMAMA” MIDHATA BEGIĆA - O PROBLEMIMA ODREĐENJA I STATUSA KNJIŽEVNOSTI U BIH

Author(s): Sanjin Kodrić / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Zvonimir Radeljković / Language(s): Croatian Publication Year: 0

Author(s): Vesna Čaušević-Kreho / Language(s): Bosnian Publication Year: 0

Prosperi,Rune Steenberg,Freya Terryn,Robert Tsaturyan,Jessica Uldry,Halina Zawiszová / Language(s): English

This volume consists of 19 chapters that reflect the titular theme - Voiced and Voiceless in Asia - from a variety of angles, making use of diverse scholarly approaches and disciplines, while focusing specifically on China, India, Japan, and Taiwan. The chapters are broadly divided into two parts: (1) Politics and Society, and (2) Arts and Literature, although the texts included in the second part also deal with social themes. In addition to historical topics, such as Japanese colonialism or Chinese agricultural reforms in the 1950s, the volume also addresses current issues, including restrictive Chinese policies in Xinjiang, Japanese activist movements against gender-based violence and discrimination, or the problems of migrant laborers in India and performing arts in Japan during the COVID-19 pandemic. Likewise, it provides insight into satirical woodblock prints from the Boshin War period or works of literature produced in Japanese leprosariums in the first half of the 20th century, as well as into selected topics in contemporary Chinese, Japanese, and Sinophone Tibetan literature. Collectively, the chapters comprised in this volume narrate the multifaceted relationship between 'voice' and 'power,' thus highlighting the fact that the question of 'voice' is closely intertwined with a variety of social, political, and cultural issues.

Węgiel. Natura i kultura

Author(s): Ralph Crane / Language(s): Polish

While concerns about climate change have focused negative attention on the coal industry in recent years, as descendants of the Industrial Revolution we have all benefited from the mining of the black seam. Coal has influenced significantly the course of human history and our social and natural environments. This book explores coal’s industrial history and the extraordinary artistic responses to coal – in the works of numerous writers, including Zola, Lawrence and Orwell, to the way it inspired painters such as Turner, Monet and Van Gogh, and its place in film, song and folklore – as well as the surprising allure of coal tourism. This strikingly illustrated book provides an engaging and informative insight into the myriad ways coal has affected our lives.
