Summary/Abstract: For several decades, the phenomenon of border as a place for writing and production of differences has been one of the most prominent in Bosnian-Herzegovinian literature, culture and society in general. In light of Lekcije o granici, actualized by Nirman Moranjak-Bamburać at the beginning of the XXI century, as well as the claim that literary characters push the boundaries or more commonly collide with them, the paper analyzes the literary characters as border figures in the short story collection Hadžijin mač by Hamza Humo. The main story itself confirms the accuracy of the assertion, but Hajji’s life and death are its full incarnation. A whole series of border phenomena in the collection is closed by Slučaj Raba slikara, as one of the most prominent in BosnianHerzegovinian literature of the first half of the twentieth century.
