The article aims at presenting a critical review of the book „Edukacja. Migracja. Edukacja międzykulturowa w kontekście kryzysu migracyjnego z perspektywy krajów V4” [„Education. Migration. Intercultural education in a context of migration crisis regarded from V4 countries perspective”] edited by Emilia Kledzik and Małgorzata Parczyk and devoted to the issue of intercultural education. The review author tries to define the source of such reflection. She argues that John Dewey’s concept of education presented in his work Democracy and Education is essential for creating a contemporary model of intercultural education. The concept of the American pedagogue remains valid because it is based on viewing education as being a result of combining heritage with personal experience. It emphasises respect for otherness and the belief in universalizing different experiences, which must lead to communication. In the article author’s opinion, the reviewed book consists of texts constituting a contemporary commentary to John Dewey’s ideas.

The Polish-studies output of Václav Burian, an ambassador of Polish culture in Czechoslovakia and the Czech Republic, scattered in magazines such as „Ječmínek”, „Hanácké noviny”, „Scriptum”, „Listy” or „Literární noviny”, has been gathered by Jan Jeništa and Anna Militz in a volume entitled Budoucím čtenářům starých novin (For future readers of old newspapers). Their selection of essays from between 1981 and 2014 is an excellent illustration of Václav Burian’s work. The sheer diversity of articles Burian left behind was unquestionably a challenge for the editors. They have stood up to that challenge – it has to be emphasised – outstandingly. They divided the selected texts by subject into three chapters titled: Witness of History (Svědkem Historie), Travel reports (Zprávy z cest) and Literature’s reader (Čtenář literatury). The first covers key events in Poland in the 1980’s. The second consists of Burian’s notes from trips to Poland in 1993 and 1995. The third one collects the most important Burian’s texts about Polish literature. Those three chapters reflect the three areas of Burian’s interest, through which he presented Poland to Czech readers.

In 2006 for the first time after more than 30 years a new translation of Aesop’s fairy tales into Bulgarian by Vladimir Atanasov was published. Aesop’s tales were also translated into Macedonian for the first time (by Valerij Sofronievski) and published in 2008. The article contains discussion and comparison of both translations. A collection of both volumes and classic editions of Aesop’s tales were described and translations were made from them. The authoress precedes her arguments with a short outline of the history of Aesop’s translations into Bulgarian. Particular attention is paid to the translation of bishop Sofroni from the early 19th century, because both discussed contemporary translations clearly refer to this work.
