6–7 сентября 2012 г. в Институте славянской филологии Торуньского университета им. Николая Коперника (Польша) состоялась вторая международная научная конференция “Старообрядцы в зарубежье: история, религия, язык, культура”, посвященная, как было сказано в информационном сообщении, “разнообразным аспектам жизни старообрядцев вне России и за пределами юрисдикции Русской православной церкви”1. В работе конференции приняли участие исследователи из Польши, России, Украины, Литвы, Эстонии, Японии и Австралии. Всего на конференции было прочитано около 40 докладов.

We live in the time of globalization, which, whether viewed positively or negatively, is our reality and should be not only accepted but also studied. It is an exciting and challenging time for researchers in the humanities, as it is difficult to define any sphere of life as purely national; there is an important European and global dimension to most contemporary economic, social, political, cultural, and language matters. In this respect, the conference “Towards a European Society? Transgressing Disciplinary Boundaries in European Studies Research,” organized by the Centre for European and International Studies Research of the University of Portsmouth and held there from 28–30 June, was of great interest and importance.

Mohandas Karamcand Gandhi (1869–1948) is a figure almost synonymous with India. From his activities in British South Africa, transforming the Indian National Congress into an all-India movement with wide popular support, to leading the non-violent struggle for Indian Independence and finally dying by the hands of a disillusioned admirer turned political opponent, he shaped India and has remained a relevant point of reference decades after his death. The year 2019 coincided with his 150 birth anniversary, which not only sparked celebrations in India and abroad, but also inspired the international conference “Gandhi after Gandhi” which took place in Turin on December 2nd and 3rd, 2019.

Organizacja konferencji była wspólnym dziełem studentów zrzeszonych w Kole Naukowym Prawa Parlamentarnego UMCS oraz Studenckim Kole Naukowe Prawników UMCS. Ze względu na sytuację pandemiczną obrady konferencyjne odbyły się w formie zdalnej, za pośrednictwem aplikacji Microsoft Teams.
