Zpráva o workshopu Francouzská revoluce a veřejné mínění v českých zemích: „recepce“, „transfery“, „dopady“ a (anti)propaganda
On September 23, 2011, a workshop titled "The French Revolution and Public Opinion in the Czech Lands: Reception, Transfers, Impacts, and (Anti)propaganda" was held at the Centre Français de Recherche en Sciences Sociales (CEFRES) in Prague. The workshop aimed to explore how this significant historical event influenced the Czech socio-political landscape and how revolutionary ideas were received, transferred, and transformed. The opening presentation by Professor Miroslav Hroch examined the intellectual impacts of the revolution and the methods historians employ to measure its echoes in society. Following that, younger historians presented studies focusing on the reception of revolutionary ideas among specific social groups, official surveillance over suspected individuals, and the state's responses to the spread of revolutionary thoughts through censorship and propaganda. The event concluded with reflections on the social and cultural repercussions of the Napoleonic Wars in the Czech context, emphasizing a move away from grand narratives toward empirical, source-based analyses of this turbulent period.
