The chair would be the first item of furniture that appears in the hearth of the bipedal human being who needs from time to time, to rest his legs after a broader effort of gaining verticality. If walking by all his members gave him an equilibri um for his body, walking on foot has forced him to sacrifice the two inferior members which had to support the whole weight of the body. The sitting position brought with it the sedentary itself, the statal organization and the statornicy. The man has become “home settled” and “wise”. If the “liberation technologist” brings inventiveness and creation, the appearance of human social uni verse, movable and immovable, setting free the artist standing in forms and images of human transcendent ego, communicates with other worlds hidden to our ordinary senses, the man is a spectator in space, in the center of a vast and complex universe, in a place of nature spirits and Gods.

This short note wants to highlight the epistemological cause of Le Verrier’s failure: that of thinking in Newtonian paradigm, by multiplying the factors of the celestial movements and deviations. In fact, the reordination of data, i.e. the change of Newtonian paradigm and the formulation of the General Theory of Relativity, as well as the more accurate calculus with a higher technology have allowed the understanding of warps pre occupying the astronomers.

This excerpt of an autobiographical work evokes the story of a Jewish family during the Holocaust and the Second World War. It focuses on feelings and attitudes towards catastrophe that have undeniably shaped the ties between the members and the families of the Jewish community. Thus, remembrance, reverence towards tradition, the constant evocation of the forefathers who lost their lives and suffered simply for being Jews are some of the core values that need to be further transmitted.

At 200 years after Charles Darwin’s birth and at 150 years after the publication of the “On the Origin of species”, the evolutionary theory elaborated by Charles Darwin and the Biblical creationism are still controversial points of view in the actual theological and scientific media. Although the Darwin’s evolutionary theory represents a real great theory for biology and life sciences, the ideology of this theory in the actual secularized society brings negative effects like racism, genetic discrimination, euthanasia, human being genetic engineering, eugeny and social darwinism. It depends strictly on our wisdom what will we do in the future with this theory for our lives and for our children’s lives.

The author of the article gives an account of his encounters with literature specialists from East Germany. Those encounters go back to the early 1970s and their frequency increased in the last decade of the existence of the GDR. The fact that the author himself, as a teenager, escaped from East Germany had an influence upon his experience, although later, already as a citizen of West Germany he sympathized with the movement of 1968, and the main object of his scholarly interest became the literature of the GDR. In the period of the breakthrough, conspicuous differences between the literatures of divided Germany became visible: the subject matter of the East German literature had an existential meaning for East German authors and colleagues; it was related to their real life. For the Germanists of the FRD it was nevertheless ‚just‘ literature.

In the period of cold war Western Germans could not be prevented from establishing social contacts with colleagues in socialist countries. In the long run, exterior barriers could not endanger firmly established connections based on tolerance and respect. The author’s report deals with the developing relations to Poland, Czechoslovakia, Hungary, Romania and even with the Soviet Union and the German Democratic Republic from the late fifties to the turning-point about 1990, when the great change began.
