The origins of Polish emigration to Argentina date back to the 19th century. Poles emigrated to this distant, overseas country, first as individuals and then in larger groups. The article summarizes the information we have about the historical aspects of the phenomenon described, explains the reasons for the trips, highlights the role of the clergy, lists the most important places for Poles to settle, and the ways and forms of maintaining Polish national identity, both in the past and in the present.

The changing side of socio-cultural, economic, technological and political structure over the world, which occurred with globalization, rapid development of information and communication technologies especially during 1980s intensified the international interaction and caused the globalization to accelerate. 1995-2011 Döneminde Avrasya Ekonomilerine Yapılan Doğrudan Yabancı Yatırımların (DYY) Dünya Trendi ile Karşılaştırılması

Author(s): Hayri Tuzla,Suat Teker / Language(s): Turkish / Issue: 4/2013

The world which rapidly globalizes and where the boundaries diminish day by day, the foreign direct investments affect many diverse macroeconomic variables, specifically economic growth and unemployment. Most current studies support that there exists a strong causality relationship between foreign direct investments and economic growth. On the other hand, there exists a weaker positive causality relationship between economic growth and foreign direct investments. Moreover, it is an undeniable fact that the economic growth leads to a decline in unemployment. This study aims to compare the foreign direct investment trends of seven Eurasian countries (Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan) in the period of 1995 and 2011. The results are compared to both the world foreign direct investment trend and the other Central Asian countries.

1995-2015 - Women and Political Life in Post-Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina

1995-2015 - Women and Political Life in Post-Dayton Bosnia and Herzegovina

Author(s): Marina Veličković,Arijana Aganović,Edita Miftari,Saša Gavrić / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 2015

(English edition) While working on improving our program and portfolio on women’s human rights we quickly realized the absence of a detailed and visible account of “women’s” history in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Although there are a significant number of publications and several activist initiatives that address certain fragments of history and explore events, periods of time, and regions, there is currently no exhaustive institutional account of women in Bosnia, nor are attempts being made to create one. The academic community has unfortunately failed in this area. The history of women and their contribution to public life remains at the margins of academic inquiry. The Sarajevo Open Centre published the book Women Documented: Women and Public Life in Bosnia and Herzegovina in the 20th Century. The book was edited by Jasmina Čaušević, a program coordinator at the Sarajevo Open Centre, in cooperation with ten authors. Through publishing this book, the Sarajevo Open Centre and our partner organizations wanted to celebrate the centenary of the First World War in a different way. It was precisely the work on Women Documented that revealed to us the need for further work exploring women’s history in Bosnia and Herzegovina. We hope that our (virtual) museum of women’s history in Bosnia will eventually be institutionalized in Bosnian society. In November and December 2015, we will commemorate the 20-year anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords – the international agreement that brought peace to Bosnia and Herzegovina and laid the foundations for the long and grueling process of peace-making and trust-building. The Dayton Peace Process was, as this book will demonstrate, a classic example of male politics. The commemoration will, again, be dominated by men – Bosnian and Herzegovinian and world leaders. We decided to conduct this research and publish this book to challenge the male-dominated approach to memory. This publication aims to offer systematic insight into the role played by women in political life. Our goal is to offer a better understanding and a concise overview of political life over the past 20 years, based on the stories of a number of women - activists, politicians and institutional leaders - with the hope that it will inspire other authors to explore BiH political history during this period of time. Since this aspect of history is particularly under-researched, the very process of gathering information was challenging and so we welcome constructive criticism, comments, and suggestions for improvement and enrichment of this text. I would like to thank Marina, Arijana and Edita, who accepted to work with the Sarajevo Open Centre on this project. I would also like to thank my colleague Maida Zagorac, who has helped me immensely with her excellent oversight of both the technical and the substantive aspects of this text. I also owe thanks to the Embassy of Swiss Confederation in Bosnia and Herzegovina for supporting our work and the research of women’s history in Bosnia and Herzegovinian.

2003–2015: ERA MEHANIZAMA ZA RODNU RAVNOPRAVNOST

2003–2015: ERA MEHANIZAMA ZA RODNU RAVNOPRAVNOST

Author(s): Edita Miftari / Language(s): Bosnian / Publication Year: 0

Ovo poglavlje obrađuje žensku politiku i angažmane najaktivnijih političarki u BiH od usvajanja Zakona o ravnopravnosti spolova 2003. godine do trenutka pisanja ovog poglavlja 2015. godine. Jedan od vrlo važnih momenata u ženskom političkom udruživanju, pored udruživanja unutar političkih partija u različite forume, asocijacije i aktive, predstavlja i formiranje prvog nadstranačkog kluba u Parlamentu Federacije BiH 2013. godine.

2003-2015: THE ERA OF GENDER EQUALITY MECHANISMS

2003-2015: THE ERA OF GENDER EQUALITY MECHANISMS

Author(s): Edita Miftari / Language(s): English / Publication Year: 0

This chapter covers women’s politics and activism in the period between the adoption of the Gender Equality Law in 2003 and 2015, when this chapter was written. The Gender Equality Law is seen as a turning point for the political participation of women in BiH, primarily because it demanded the harmonization of other laws, including the Electoral Law, with the 40% gender quota it introduced. Another key moment for women’s organizations was the formation of The Club of Women Parliamentarians FBiH in 2013. This chapter will elaborate on the challenges and obstacles the women in the Federal Parliament faced during the implementation of this initiative. The chapter will also discuss the role of women in the Executive since recent years have seen an increase in the number of posts held by women at all levels of the BiH government. The internal organization of political parties will also be discussed, specifically – the role women play in the decisionmaking bodies of their chosen political parties. In its conclusion, this chapter will present the emerging female politicians who represent the future of women’s politics in BiH.

Analiza medijskog zakonodavstva u Republici Srbiji

Analiza medijskog zakonodavstva u Republici Srbiji

Author(s): Predrag Dimitrijević,Jelena Vučković / Language(s): Serbian / Publication Year: 2018

Development of media legislation in Serbia begins after social changes in 2000. Media law in Serbia is regulated by media laws adopted in 2014. Fundamental media laws are the Law on public information law and media, Law on electronic media and the Law on public media services. Even at the time of the adoption of these laws, the individual experts and media workers expressed concerns over how the particular insufficiently explicit provisions should be interpreted and applied. Current media laws in Serbia show a certain discrepancy and retrograde tendency, which further complicates their application and absence of case law. Poor condition in the media is a consequence of growing political influence on the media, as well as a very high concentration of ownership which violates media pluralism principle. The findings of the research show that there are pressures on the media in Serbia, that there are censorship and self-censorship, that representatives of the authorities interpret critically-minded media as their political opponents and that specific media are the means for political propaganda and crackdown of political opponents. This further complicates a realistic state and application of media legislation. Several important problems arise in the implementation of media legislation, namely: transparency of ownership and financing of private media; the need for efficient supervision of state funding and co-financing of the media; strengthening the independence and capacity of the regulatory authority for electronic media; attacks and intimidation of journalists and the need for protection of journalists.Development of media legislation in Serbia begins after social changes in 2000. In order to achieve this goal, financial data was collected which would be able to provide us with information in order to study the evolution of the food industry in Thessaly Region (Greece). The statistical analysis of the data was done with the statistical analysis package IBM SPSS Statistics 23. The descriptive statistics on the distributions and frequency diagrams (Histograms) and normal frequencies curves for the percentages of changes were also calculated. To test the significance of the differences between the mean values of the financial statements items, the method of One-Way Analysis Of Variance (One-Way ANOVA) was used. The same method was used to test the mean values of both the changes in amounts and in their percentages. In short, we can say that the percentage changes in Total Assets and Equity the time period 2013-16 are small and concentrated around zero. The same period, we have a significant increase in L/M Debt and Sales, except for a few extreme cases, while the percentage changes in Gross Profit and Profit before Tax are limited. The year 2016 there were significant changes in Taxes and Net Profit from AM2005-16. ANALYSIS OF THE FACTOR OF SAVINGS OF PRIVATE PROFIT ENTERPRISES IN BIH BY APPLICATION OF ECM METHODOLOGY

ANALYSIS OF THE FACTOR OF SAVINGS OF PRIVATE PROFIT ENTERPRISES IN BIH BY APPLICATION OF ECM METHODOLOGY

Author(s): Irma Đidelija,Rabija Kapetanović-Somun / Language(s): English / Issue: 38/2020

The purpose of this research is to examine the factors that affect savings of private profit enterprises in BiH. Domestic savings as an alternative source of capital, in the opinion of most economists, is a much more reliable and rational source of investment funds. Therefore, the aim of this survey is to determine which factors can stimulate domestic savings of private profit enterprises with further growth-backs in growth and overall economic growth. Most of the analyzes are mainly macroeconomically focused on total private savings. In this way, there is no difference in the absolute and maturity of determinants of private savings, which is especially important for small, growing economies. This research investigated the impact of macroeconomic and financial determinants of savings of private profit companies on the basis of quarterly data from the Agency for Statistics of BiH and the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the period 2000-2016. For this purpose, the seasonalization of the variables used in the analysis by the X-13 ARIMA AND TRAMO/SEATS access. The model includes only nonstationary variables of the first order integrated, which are also coinetegrated, which is a condition for applying the Error Correction Model (ECM). The research results show that in the long run only the coefficients with the general government revenues in the previous period and the deposit interest rate of the company in the previous quarter have a statistical significance different from zero. The negative coefficient with the revenues of the general government suggests that the increase in general government revenue in the long run negatively affects the level of the enterprise’s savings. The deposit interest rate of the company in the previous quarter has an unexpectedly negative impact on the level of enterprise’s savings in the long run.. In the short-term part of the model, only general government revenue and expenditures have shown a statistically significant impact on savings of private profit enterprises. The relatively high value of the adjusted coefficient of determination, 0.607, suggests that almost 61% of variations in the level of private profit enterprise's savings are explained by variations in the set of independent variables included in the ECM model. The obtained research results can be significant indicators for adequate measures of BiH monetary and fiscal policies and can further be indicators for the overall macroeconomic decision of the state.
