Rodno diskriminirajuće kulturalne prakse i običaji tradicionalnih patrijarhalnih mizogenih zajednica

Rodno diskriminirajuće kulturalne prakse i običaji tradicionalnih patrijarhalnih mizogenih zajednica

Author(s): Lejla Mušić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 03+04/2013

Question of culture/nature difference is one of the key questions, to which mistakable interpretations, result in patriarchal oppression over female and nature. Misogynistic matrix of behavior is founded in this conception, therefore women represent nature, emotional principle, and men represent culture or rational principal. There are continual examples, of patriarchal praxis and values, which are in contradiction to Ruling Conventions, on Women Human Rights Protection. These praxes are in the domain of traditional particular praxis of individual cultures, and therefore, particular praxis, that are usually different of dominant culture praxis. Sati in India, foot binding in China, female genital mutilation originating from African rituals, are only several out of them. The dominant Legal norms, refuse to accept, those praxis, but in closed particular communities, the rituals of socialization and cultural praxis involve female sacrifices, in different ways, and females are prepared , from their early childhood, to accept “ Great sacrifices” , as though if the only true life goal of femininity is to be victim, to be victim for others, or even more tragically “ enjoy in oneself sacrifice for Others” especially if the victim is to be done for masculine representatives or leaders of communities, for which women are respectable only if they are a victim.

HAŠKI TRIBUNAL I SUĐENJE “STOLJEĆA”; KARADŽIĆU DOKAZAN ZLOČIN GENOCIDA, ŠEŠELJ OSLOBOĐEN OPTUŽBI

Author(s): Fikret Bečirović / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 65/2016

Moral and legal contradictio in adiecto of Hague verdicts is best manifested in rulings of the ‘century’ in cases against most responsible perpetrators of genocide and unprecedented crimes, which they planned, organised, encouraged and directly commanded. After thirteen years in hiding from justice with false name and physiognomy crucial Hague inductee, Radovan Karadzic was arrested in 2008, whereas Vojislav Šešelj was arrested five years earlier, in 2003. Before this, 161 persons were indicted by Hague Tribunal for war crimes, of which more than half (91) are Serbs, which is not surprising, considering facts of the war-events in B&H and Croatia. When all the sentences issued by the court so far and those that are expected are summed up, it comes to 1000 years of imprisonment. Even though the number seems high, by no means it reciprocates committed crimes nor the number of the executors of those crimes that have not yet been prosecuted and are, moreover, holding high public offices in government of B&H. That is the legal and moral ‘contardictio’, what we Bosniaks, see as irreconcilable with moral legislative logic of some of the judges of the jury council who did everything they could to insure that criminals are not punished adequately or acquitted of the crimes they committed, placing the mentioned crimes within theframework of International Conventions, thus fabricating new legal ‘standards’ in order to comply with criminals not with truth or justice. In this regard, most blatant example of avoiding justice we have in the verdict of the ‘century’ in case of Radovan Karadzic and unprecedented legal morbidity in the verdict in case of Vojisalav Šešelj. The verdict in the case of the former is a slight consolation for the victims, whereas the latter is an unparalleled disgrace, a crime without punishment or, plainly ‘justification of crime’ by the judges who justified these crimes thus identifying themselves with the criminal as such.

The article will focus upon few basic problems that were facing Bosniak family during the aggression upon Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially the genocide in Srebrenica – a UN safe area. With the fall of Srebrenica, the Army of Srpska Republic, Yugoslav army, paramilitary units from Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, Russia have committed a crime of genocide with mass executions, rapes, human hunting of those who tried to escape over the surrounding mountains, and various other atrocities with intention to entirely eliminate the mail population of the area. In collaboration with the government of Serbia, they organised the transport of women, small children and elders to Kladanj, thus even though crippled, a part of Bosniak family survived. However, the issue of thus crippled Bosniak family is a complex problem with lasting consequences until this day. In attempt to safe “bare” life, expelled population, as refugees faced numerous problems of adaptation and assimilation in new surroundings. In this article the author will reflect upon some consequences of genocide that Bosniak family is suffering even today, twenty years after the crime was committed.

The article considers the modern politics of memory of the Ukrainian society, which does not include in the national historical narrative the events connected with one of the most numerous ethnic national minorities of Ukraine. Here the symbols of Sovietness (“Sovetskost”) in the post-Soviet space are the lacking sites of memory in the city space, connected with the Jewish people who have been recognized marginal for the national project. Thus while analyzing the modern museumization and memoralization of the Holocaust victims the author revealed not yet overwhelmed Soviet ideological clichés in which the Jews are pictured as “the others” to Ukrainian history, and the national identity construction is based on the image of the titular social community.

NASILJE U PORODICI U PRAKSI CENTRA JAVNE BEZBJEDNOSTI BANJA LUKA

Author(s): Goran Guska,Goran Blagojević / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 1/2016

Domestic violence receives alarming proportions around the world and is one of the most dominant issues jeopardizing human rights. Victims of violence are most vulnerable categories of society: children, women and the elderly which constitute an obstacle to the normal development of the community. Although a portion of the authors there is the view that the problem of domestic violence should be resolved within the family without reaction of society, our work is conceived precisely to the social reaction to this phenomenon. We tried to answer which are the reactions that the community can take to prevent this phenomenon to the extent possible. Thus, we first examined the general issues that are characteristic for occurrence of domestic violence. We performed an analysis of existing regulations in the Republic of Sprska governing this area. In this regard, we have conducted research of practical application of such legislation in the area of Banja Luka. We wanted to find out the extent to which violence is present in this area and which are the most common forms of violence. As a source we used the annual report the Public Security Center Banja Luka, in the period between 2009 and 2013, during which we had some questions related to the characteristics of the perpetrators and victims of violence as well as the causes of violence got answered. These responses have helped us in reaching conclusions that could be useful for better understanding and responding to the problem of domestic violence.

Метод фокус-группы и ролевая игра: потенциал и ограничения в исследовании социально чувствительных проблем

Author(s): Artur Holavin / Language(s): Russian Issue: 1/2016

The text discusses existing limits to the use of focus group methods, especially when it comes to sensitive research topics. Based on my experience of participation in an international research project on sexual bullying, i point out the issues of distrust, conformism promoting group dynamics, and the limits of post hoc “rationalized” discourses among focus group subjects. Drawing upon my experience of nonformal educational “learning by doing” projects, i propose the use of role-playing and simulation elements as supplementary methods to tackle the above mentioned issues. In conclusion, i summarize possible methodological advantages of the use of role-play elements in qualitative sociological research, as well as some possible epistemological limits of the method.

Financial Fraud against the Elderly as a Latent Indicator of Intergenerational Breakdown

Financial Fraud against the Elderly as a Latent Indicator of Intergenerational Breakdown

Author(s): Elmira K. NABERUSHKINA,Oksana Besschetnova,Oleg A. SUDORGIN / Language(s): English Issue: 88/2025

Intergenerational relations problems are found throughout history. These problems have received a great deal of attention in literature, particularly in sociology and psychology. In recent times the digitization of all spheres of public life and in particular financial services increases the risk of fraud for older adults involving theft of money, property, or valuable personal information. Each year the sophistication and amount of digital financial fraud increases, and older adults have been disproportionately victimized due in large part to their digital illiteracy. Hypothesis: the incidence of cyber fraud against older people will decrease due to closer intergenerational interaction with family members, friends and immediate social circle. This study’s novelty is the use of an intergenerational communication gap perspective to examine older adult financial fraud in Russia. Most previous scientific publications concerning financial sector fraud focus on issues of technological protection against cybercrime using new technologies such as artificial intelligence or focus on the socio-psychological vulnerability of the elderly. The results of this study show a high degree of vulnerability of older people to become victims of cybercrimes, which is due to a whole range of factors, including social, cognitive, financial, technological, and psychological. This article concludes that there is an insufficient focus on strengthening intergenerational ties as a resource for reducing social and financial risks for older family members as well as a resource for increasing the agency of young people to maintain family and public well-being and welfare. The article proposes that the gap in intergenerational communication can be overcome by reverse mentoring, i.e. where a mentor is younger than the mentee.

CHILDHOOD SEXUAL ABUSE: FACTORS INHIBITING OR TRIGGERING THE DISCLOSURE OF THE SECRET

Author(s): Oana Lăcrămioara Bădărău,Sergiu-Lucian Raiu / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

The secret character in the abusive relationship, as well as the child's vulnerability, forces him to remain silent and allows the abuse to be repeated. The objective of this paper was to identify the factors that inhibit or cause disclosure of child sexual abuse. The study is based on the opinion of six young women between the ages of 19 and 27, victims of intrafamilial sexual abuse, who benefited from special protection measures. Based on the interview method, the following were analyzed: individual and family history; the age of onset of sexual abuse, its duration and type; the strategies used by the aggressor in keeping the secret; the way of disclosure and the results obtained afterward. In four of the six cases, the perpetrator was the biological father, and the „secret of sexual abuse” was secured through repeated threats, terrorizing, and physical abuse. Three of the young women revealed the sexual abuse to a friend, respectively to the foster mother (intentionally), one other young woman confessed what happened to them during counseling sessions, and therapy (requested/supported), and one young woman spoke when she was a child to the educator from kindergarten (accidental). One of the participants spoke for the first time about childhood sexual abuse during the present study. Fear of being blamed or held responsible, and feelings of shame contributed to the delay in disclosing the secret.

RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN VIOLENCE AND CHRONIC ILLNESS AMONG WOMEN

Author(s): Ancuţa Elena Păduraru,Camelia Soponaru / Language(s): English Issue: 1/2024

Violence against women is a problem with significant personal, social, and economic implications that occurs in all countries, regardless of economic level, culture, or religion. Violence against women is often divided into three categories: physical, sexual, and psychological, whether self-directed, interpersonal, or collective. The consequences for victims are both physical and psychological. Although not widely recognized and easily visualized by others, chronic illness can also be a consequence of violence, with a long-term impact on the victim's life, acting as a reminder of what happened even long after the abuse has stopped. This paper is a narrative review that aims to highlight the link between violence against women and chronic somatic illness. In studies addressing and highlighting this relationship, the research methods used have raised important questions about the representativeness of the results obtained, and the extent to which they can be compared, particularly in research addressing intimate partner violence. We highlight gaps in knowledge and propose recommendations for future studies and psychotherapeutic intervention programs for victims of violence.

Validacija skale stavova prema kolektivno motiviranom nasilju – preliminarna studija

Validacija skale stavova prema kolektivno motiviranom nasilju – preliminarna studija

Author(s): Mersiha Jusić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 7/2023

violence still remains problematic and debated, as a consequence of unclear conceptualization of the concept itself, as well as its overlap with other constructs. Most interdisciplinary conceptualizations differentiate between two not necessarily associated aspects of it, which are acceptance of an ideological frame that justifies violence, and the intention of violent action. Considering the importance of knowledge application in this field, it is especially important to develop empirically validated instruments of radicalization into violence, that would manage to capture the versatility of this phenomenon considering its variations depending on ideological, political, and societal context. Current operationalizations mostly refer to a specific context, a group, and a clearly defined ideology, while rarely acknowledging the general approval of violent action stemming from attachment to a specific collectivity. This article suggests a theoretical and conceptual step toward a more general approach to radicalization into violence, based on theoretical underpinnings regarding collective identity and individual readiness for violent action, which surpasses the aforementioned dilemmas. Additionally, as a consequence of theoretical unequivocalities, there is a lack of validated measurements adapted for the Bosnian language area. Therefore, this study presents a newly created instrument, Collectively Motivated Violence Attitudes Scale, and its preliminary empirical validation on a sample of 735 participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, aged 16-21 (M=18.72, SD=1.54). The instrument is constituted of eight questions on a 7-point Likert scale. Psychometrical parameters indicate good internal consistency (Cronbach Alpha .88), satisfying discriminative validity with a full range of responses, and adequate item-total correlations. EFA shows two distinct dimensions interpreted as: justification of collectively motivated violence and individual readiness for collectively motivated violence. These two factors explain 68.21% variance in responses.

Anksiozna osjetljivost i suicidalnost kod osoba sa ptsp-om: pregled istraživanja

Author(s): Zana Aziraj,Vildana Aziraj-Smajić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 4/2017

The goal of this article is to explain the nature of the relation between anxiety sensitivity (AS) and suicidality among people with PTSD and reveal the mechanisms that lie in the background of that relation. Present studies reveal that people with PTSD who are having increased AS more often report the presence of suicidal ideas and suicide attempts. Cognitive concerns as elementary determinants are shown to be a significant predictor of suicide risk among people with PTSD. Also, they are significant predictors of suicide risk among people with depressive disorder, and it is possible that anxiety sensitivity will be a stronger predictor of suicide risk in comorbidity. Further, it is shown that the best predictor of suicidality among persons with PTSD are high cognitive concerns in interaction with low physical concerns. Consistent with research results clinical implications suggest a significant role for the treatment of cognitive concerns in reducing PTSD symptoms and suicidal ideas. According to this information, it can be concluded that anxiety sensitivity can be a strong predictor of suicidality among persons with PTSD, and therefore it should be an important part of treatment.

Suicidalnost i ptsp: pregled dosadašnjih spoznaja o ulozi komorbidnih psihičkih poremećaja

Author(s): Vildana Aziraj-Smajić,Zana Aziraj / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 4/2017

The purpose of this article is to give a comprehensive overview of the role of comorbidity in suicide risk among people with PTSD. Based on recent studies, there is strong evidence about the cohesion between suicidality and PTSD, especially when there is comorbidity with another psychological disease inherent. Comorbidity with Disruptive Mood Dysregulation is found to be the most signifcant predictor of suicidality among people with PTSD. The risk of suicidality is also increased with comorbidity with Substance Related and Addictive disorders. Also, it is found that comorbidity with Addictive and Psychotic disorders, mostly disorders from the schizophrenia spectrum, significantly increase suicide risk among people with PTSD. Further, it is found that comorbidity with Borderline Personality Disorder is strongest among comorbidity with Personality disorders in predicting suicide risk among people with PTSD. The clinical implications of this article are relevant to the possibility of practical use of scientifically based research results, and their use in clinical practice with the goal of improving the psychological evaluation of suicidality.

Socio-ecological modelling of support factors to mitigate the risks of PTSD in Slovenian military families

Socio-ecological modelling of support factors to mitigate the risks of PTSD in Slovenian military families

Author(s): Janja Vuga Beršnak,Maja Škafar,Gašper Ferme / Language(s): English Issue: 105-106/2024

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) occurs because of a variety of stressful situations and can be alleviated by a combination of support factors across different socio-ecological levels. The study investigates the impact of support at different socio-ecological levels on risk factors for PTSD in military families. A survey of 366 Slovenian service members and their spouses or intimate partners was conducted. We ran a basic regression model of risk factors for PTSD and later 6 two-stage hierarchical regression analyses to determine how the effect of risk factors on PTSD changes when support factors are added. On the micro level: 1) work environment support lessens the negative impact of general health and depression on PTSD; 2) spousal/intimate partner support is beneficial for women; and 3) family support offsets the negative impact of work on PTSD. On the meso and macro levels, community and military support ease the negative impact of the direct work environment, while macro national support significantly contributes to reducing PTSD.

METODOLOŠKI PRISTUP NASILJU U ŠKOLI

Author(s): Milomir V. Martić / Language(s): Bosnian Issue: 13/2016

Violence at school has its own specificity because the schools through the centuries were considered as a holy place, because it forms the individuality, acquire knowledge and skills for life. For centuries, it was stressed that pupils should have to adhere to a place of their training, and teachers sanctity of their profession. "This is why violence in schools is considered as a great evil, as something unnatural and unexpected." Violence in schools is a "trend" worldwide and idols of the students were "tough guys", film and television villains, and those who are in conflict with the state and its laws. Violence in school is, as I stated above, only the segment of violence that exists in the social environment and everyday life. The most commonly encountered violence is violence among students. Researchers believe that if the violence is done by a good student, then it is a clear sign of severe social disorders; usually the time comes to an altered personality, often called a psychopath.
