SURVIVAL AND PARALLELISM

SURVIVAL AND PARALLELISM

Author(s): Florent Rrahmani / Language(s): English Issue: 11/2019

The constitutional changes of 1989 in Kosovo, in addition to physical, political andpsychological pressure, exerted social pressure through job dismissals. Job dismissalsbecame a “normal” process, becoming a common way of exercising social pressure. In all these impossibilities in front of which a whole society is placed, self-organization oropposition through self-acting is expressed. In this course, the collapsed life on every sphere, and precisely this collapse burdened evenmore the daily life of these citizens, imposing reflection on these inabilities. While therepressive state was exclusive, degrading, and denigrating for a category of the society, precisely this category got self-integrated through resistance, which can not be calledotherwise but self-organization.In this flow, many subsequent developments came to the fore, such as the comprehensive mobilization of the society, so that individual tasks became selfvoluntarycollective duties and obligations. To this society, faced with such a situation, Solidarity was undoubtedly imposed in every areaof life, having the course from similarities, and “solidarity that comes from similarities is atits maximum when the collective conscience completely wraps up all our conscience andcomplies with it on all points” (Durkheim, 2004).

THE NEED FOR LEADER CREATION AMONGST ROMANIAN SCHOOL PRINCIPALS – EDUCATIONAL POLICY ANALYSIS

THE NEED FOR LEADER CREATION AMONGST ROMANIAN SCHOOL PRINCIPALS – EDUCATIONAL POLICY ANALYSIS

Author(s): Adina-Petronela Vechiu / Language(s): English Issue: 13/2020

Many theories of leadership and organisational climate gave been formulated over the years. This paper focuses both on transformational and transactional management and on supportive organisational climates. The theory of transformational educational management was developed as a response to the need for reform in educational systems in the 1970s and 1980s. The central convincing argument for educational staff was the assumption that a transformational leader motivates both teachers and students through increasing their consciousness regarding operational objectives and inspiring them to forego personal interest in favour of the organisational ‘greater good’ (Marks and Printy , 2003, p. 375). This strand of theory attributes certain leadership factors to the transformational leader like idealising influence, inspirational motivation, intellectual stimulation and individualising consideration amongst others. The transformational leader came about as a response to the need for schools to be led successfully through innovative reforms. This type of leader underlines and accentuates ideas of change, innovation and the influence teachers have in these processes. On the other hand, transactional leadership is based on promoting a negotiation model which helps reaching a certain motivation level. This level is usually expressed through an accepted amount. Conversely, transformational leadership refers to certain assumed responsibilities and moral principles. Both leadership models aim to improve school environments, ultimately targeting progress through building leadership capacities amongst all those involved in facilitating school activities (apud Nedelcu, 2013).

Author(s): Roxana-Eugenia FLOCEA,Alina-Sorina Bîrgăoanu / Language(s): English Issue: 10/2018

The subject approached in this paper refers to the main parts of educational management. Education is a social phenomenon that has emerged with human society and has undergone a number of essential changes during the development of society. Thus, from the empirical action of preparing the young generation for social life to the scientifically based action of the modern age, education has gone a long way, becoming an authentic science with its own statute and laws.

Mediating Grannies: Caring for Young Grandchildren who Use Digital Media

Mediating Grannies: Caring for Young Grandchildren who Use Digital Media

Author(s): Galit Nimrod,Dafna LEMISH,Nelly Elias / Language(s): English Issue: 26 (2)/2020

Based on online surveys conducted in the United States and Israel, this study explored grandmothers’ involvement in mediation of their grandchildren’s digital media use. Study participants were highly involved in restrictive, instructive and supervising mediation—and to a much lesser degree in co-use and technological mediation. Their involvement was significantly associated with their familiarity with digital media popular among children, engagement in other activities with their grandchildren, and past mediation (as mothers). Results highlighted the technical challenges older women face in their efforts to mediate their grandchildren’s digital media use.

Ontario’s action plan for seniors recognizes that seniors have health and education needs, among other needs (Gouvernement de l’Ontario, 2017). To partially meet these needs, we have proposed an innovative gerontagogical approach by combining two existing concepts: narrative gerontology with digital storytelling. Thus, by this new concept of Digital Narrative Gerontology, we give seniors a special place for the elaboration of the message they wish to bequeath to other generations, by creating together their life testimonies in digital form easy to share, while mutually acquiring new digital skills and exploiting the benefits of narrative gerontology, such as well-being, aging well, resilience and wisdom, but also informal and intergenerational learning. Communication was important on two levels: between the elder and the researcher during the oral narration and the creation of the digital narration in a relationship of mutual trust as well as in the form of digital testimony with a key message to transmit, during the broadcast of the digital narration. This research also made it possible to respond to the curiosity of the elders for new matters in a reassuring framework, adapted to their level, while respecting their learning pace and the choices of knowledge that they wish to acquire. Seniors were proud to share their digital creation with those they had chosen, thus opening the space for discussions, exchanges, emotions and the open door to a new intergenerational “narrative” and social interactions - sources of learning.

Age and Technology in Digital Inclusion Policy: A Study of Italy and the UK

Age and Technology in Digital Inclusion Policy: A Study of Italy and the UK

Author(s): Simone Carlo,Maria Sourbati / Language(s): English Issue: 26 (2)/2020

The role of media and communication technologies in increasing the quality of life of the elderly is today a key topic in academic and policy debates. This article discusses findings from a study into the way public policy frames the role of technologies in later life. The aim of our study was to critically investigate the policy discourses on ‘old age’ and on the role of digital ICT in fixing challenges associated with ageing. Our focus was on digital inclusion policies of the UK and Italy, two countries experiencing similar trends in population ageing but different ICT diffusion patterns. We found that an age-based understanding of digital technology use was quite common, as was an enthusiastic embracing of the role of digital ICT in the implementation of Active Ageing and Information Society goals. We also found that the understanding of the role of digital technology and its relationship to (old) age has been changing over the last decade, starting to reflect social complexity as ICT diffusion increases among older age groups.

Edukacja przedszkolna. W poszukiwaniu innych rozwiązań

Author(s): Małgorzata Karwowska-Struczyk / Language(s): Polish

Analysis of essential aspects of institutional preschool care and education for young children and presentation of selected conceptual solutions. The author analyzes them against the background of two approaches: liberalism-based and "grass-roots experimenting" based on civic initiatives. He wonders about their characteristics, conditions and consequences, and the chances of their success. It indicates the open and hidden dangers that are associated with the breaking of solidarity and social unity, with the domination of individualism, rivalry and competition. Referring to theory and practice, he proposes examples of specific conceptual solutions (Reggio Emilia, High / Scope Program and diversified education) that fit into the space of civil society and fit into civic, community activity, dictated by concern for the common good.

Neoautorytaryzm: źródła psychologiczne

Neoautorytaryzm: źródła psychologiczne

Author(s): Janusz Reykowski / Language(s): Polish Issue: 1/2021

During the last two decades, we are facing in liberal democracies various manifestations of a political crisis. The advanced forms of this crisis has been described by JerzyJ. Wiatr as new authoritarianism. It can be explained as a consequence of the development of antidemocratic political movements that are obtaining the increasingsupport of electorates in Europe and elsewhere. In this paper, two main causes of these processes are discussed: the imbalances in various spheres of the contemporary world – in political, economic, sociocultural spheres, in environment and climate as well as the sociopsychological consequences of these imbalances. Their main sociopsychological consequence in societies is the spreading of the sense of epistemic, existential andcultural (symbolic) threat. Psychological research indicates that the frequent reaction to such threats is the increase of conservatism and Right Wing Authoritarianism. Such reactions may have deep sources in some basic characteristics of a homo sapiens but they are not inevitable effects of the threats. In this paper, an effort is made to explain why in the contemporary world these psychological reactions to threats can be highly maladaptive.

Pathologies of Separation: Family Chopping, Parental Mobbing, Parental Alienation Syndrome

Pathologies of Separation: Family Chopping, Parental Mobbing, Parental Alienation Syndrome

Author(s): Rossella Marzullo / Language(s): English Publication Year: 0

Separation, even in the hypothesis where it unfolds on a non-conflictual basis, creates a serious vulnus in the life of an individual and in his family history, because it generates an empty space in the sphere of the identity of each partner, built over time within of the relationship. In union dissolution, as well as in adolescence, people are passed through by feelings of loss and disorientation that are overcome only when they are able to process them and reintegrate them into the new identity. The separative experience is therefore an experience of crisis that, if is managed in the persistence of the conflict, can have a very negative impact on the psycho-physical well-being of the children. Some authors have highlighted that post-separation conflict has worse effects on children than that which precedes separation, since the former presents itself as a destructive conflict, characterized by hostility, aggression and negative feelings and is resolved less frequently, putting more the adaptive capacity of minors to their new condition as children of separated parents is at risk.

Rodzinne uwarunkowania kreatywności

Author(s): Marcin Klik,Anna Cierpka / Language(s): Polish

The publication explores the influence of various family background aspects on the formation of the human creative attitude. The original reflection on the issue, based on the authors’ research, is preceded by the presentation of the current state of knowledge. The part of the book devoted to quality research uses the authors’ horizontal analysis modelled on methods employed in literary criticism. On the basis of the obtained results, interpreted in the light of selected psychological concepts, the authors propose an integrated model of interdependencies between the level of individual creativity, characteristics of the family system, parenting styles and the three types of creative identities (a family hero, a lone wanderer, a rebel).

Já jako učitel: profesní sebepojetí studenta učitelství

Author(s): Blanka Pravdová / Language(s): Czech

In the publication My teacher self: Professional self-concept of a student teacher, the results of the qualitative research into the professional self-concept of students at the Faculty of Education at the Masaryk University in Brno, Czech Republic are presented. The theoretical part of the publication studies the concepts of self-concept and professional self-concept, and explains the significance of positive self-concept for the work of the teacher. The research presented is a grounded theory research using a multimethod approach for collecting data. Thus, the free response was proven a valid tool for studying professional self-concept. The part of the publication in which the results are presented highlights the dominant aspects of professional self-concept of teacher students and their relationship to the concepts of the self-discrepancy theory – the ideal, ought and actual selves. Furthermore, it examines the possible selves, i.e. the wanted and unwanted expectations of students from their future development in the role of the teacher. Attention is paid to the process of development of the professional self concept – to its key factors and individual stages. The publication also suggests possible or desirable interventions that can help the faculty educating the future teachers support the process of development of professional self-concept of undergraduate student teachers.

Vybrané problémy tanatológie

Author(s): Slávka Démuthová / Language(s): Slovak

The aim of the publication "Selected problems of thanatology" is to point out to the issues of death and dying, which are - in addition to the strong taboo - subject to many mistaken beliefs. From a psychological point of view it discusses the death concept in children during ontogenesis. Following chapters are dedicated to neglect of the needs of the sick and dying who, due to lack of information, ignorance and unwillingness of their surroundings, are dying without the control of symptoms and saturation of somatic, psychological and spiritual needs. The lack of knowledge has consequences for the mourning process in which subjects often experience complications, pathology that are not identified and are left without professional intervention. The publication is primarily intended for students of psychology programs; however, it can enrich all helping professions.

Psychometrická analýza TIM3–5 – Testu pro identifikaci nadaných žáků v matematice pro 3.–5. třídu

Author(s): Hynek Cígler,Michal Jabůrek,Šárka Portešová,Ondřej Straka / Language(s): Czech

The TIM3-5 test is an assessment tool designed to measure mathematical abilities in the above-average children of grades 3 through 5. Because some advanced psychometric procedures, rarely employed in psychological practice in Czechia, were used during the test development, we have written this book, in which we describe selected psychometric analyses in detail. In the first place, this e-book is, of course, intended for those readers, who are interested in working with the test TIM3-5 itself. However, it may serve as a useful information source also for psychometricians, cognitive scientists, statisticians and professionals in related fields, who need to better acquaint themselves with practical use of Rasch models, with development of parallel test forms and their equating, with DIF analysis and with advanced methods of computation of reliability, which support themselves by the item response theory. The publication also deals with the relationship of mathematical giftedness and particular intelligence factors as specified by the CHC theory of cognitive abilities.

Rozwój kontroli przez hamowanie w okresie dzieciństwa

Author(s): Sławomir Jabłoński / Language(s): Polish

The author analyses inhibitory control, one of the most popular concepts in contemporary research in developmental psychology, cognitive psychology and neuropsychology. Inhibitory control is often viewed as one of the earliest developing executive functions, which are the basis for goal-directed human behaviour. The quality of executive functioning is confirmed as one of the most important early predictors of typical and impaired development in childhood, adolescence and adulthood. In the first part of the book, several perspectives on defining inhibitory control are presented. Inhibitory control is described from the point of view of executive functions, functional systems, problem-solving processes and brain mechanisms. The second part of the book includes the author’s original theoretical framework for inhibitory control development, which is based on Lev S. Wygotsky’s cultural-historical psychology. Moreover, difficulties in assessing inhibitory control development are discussed. The final part of the book comprises a presentation and discussion of the results of a research project seeking to test some hypotheses based on the theoretical framework for inhibitory control development.

Призоваване на демонични фигури: Дама Пика и Блъди Мери. Ритуал и първообраз

Author(s): Rosina Kokudeva / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 3/2022

The subject of this text is the study of the ritual practice associated with summoning of demonic beings – Queen of Spades and Bloody Mary. The purpose of the text is to characterize the specific process of summoning ghosts, as well as to look for the prototypes of the considered female figures. The different conditions under which the sessions take place, their socio-historical context and the characters anchoring in popular culture, being its product, are compared. Attention is also paid to the social function of such practices, with an emphasis on their psychological interpretation. Queen of Spades and Bloody Mary are perceived as manifestations of fear, but at the same time, they are its antipodes, and the roots of this statement are sought in the initiation practices among adolescents associated with the transition to adulthood.

Próby do badania gotowości szkolnej (PGS) – wersja eksperymentalna dla nauczycieli wychowania przedszkolnego

Author(s): Joanna Góźdź / Language(s): Polish

Every preschool teacher is required to assess the child’s school readiness. In most cases, this assessment is carried out in a subjective manner, without relying on standard research tools. The work presented here is intended to aid the work of the preschool teacher. It puts in their hands a standardized (having the same instructions, scoring method and norms) sample for objective assessment of a child’s school readiness, both in general and in specified areas of functioning (mainly cognitive). The tool was tested on a sample of children preparing for school, and based on the results, it can be concluded that it is a relevant and reliable tool.
