Różnica i powtórzenie jako aspekty reprezentacji w "Variationen für Orchester" op. 31 Arnolda Schönberga

Różnica i powtórzenie jako aspekty reprezentacji w "Variationen für Orchester" op. 31 Arnolda Schönberga

Author(s): Iwona Sowińska-Fruhtrunk / Language(s): Polish Issue: 02 (37)/2018

The article focuses on the issues of difference and repetition, as defined by Gilles Deleuze, and their possible application to Arnold Schoenberg’s dodecaphonic work, Variations for Orchestra Op. 31. Although Schoenberg’s reflection on these problems comes from the earlier years than Deleuze’s, the correspondence of understanding the difference and repetition between them is striking. Two other terms by Deleuze and Guattari applied to the work are becoming and refrain. Repetition and refrain are associated with the representational moment in the work (motif B-A-C-H as a quote and as a type of refrain) while difference and becoming are associated with the anti-representational moment (dodecaphonic technique, developing variation technique, etc.).

Jadwiga Szajna-Lewandowska dzieciom

Author(s): Aleksandra Machura / Language(s): Polish Issue: 02 (37)/2018

In the second half of the twentieth century, music for children was enriched by the works of Jadwiga Szajna-Lewandowska (1912–1994). The Wrocław’s pianist, composer and pedagogue wrote most of her pieces for the youngest and thus the most sensitive recipient. The vast majority of her works is stage music for children, mainly ballet. In this category, Szajna-Lewandowska has no equal. She is the one of the rare composers who devoted most of their works to children. Her music for the youngest comprises not only stage works, but also compositions written for children as performers or listeners. Among them, there are instrumental, vocal--instrumental and choral pieces. Therefore, it can be claimed that Jadwiga Szajna-Lewandowska is a composer who made a significant contribution to Polish children’s and young adult literature.

Ndërtimi i identiteteve nëpërmjet arkitekturës

Ndërtimi i identiteteve nëpërmjet arkitekturës

Author(s): Vera Bushati,Bisej Kapo / Language(s): Albanian Issue: 12/2013

National Museums and Museums of Modern Art in Poland – Competition for Domination in the Field of Museums

National Museums and Museums of Modern Art in Poland – Competition for Domination in the Field of Museums

Author(s): Elżbieta Nieroba / Language(s): English Issue: 2/2018

The objective of this paper is to analyse the transformations in the field of museums in Poland, and to study more closely the process of constructing a museum model that meets contemporary challenges. Two types of museums are analysed here, namely national museums and museums of modern art, to demonstrate how their respective activities affect the structure of the field in question, bringing about change. It is the assumption of this study, following Pierre Bourdieu’s framework of conflict perspective, that museums situated in the field of orthodoxy and the ones in the field of heterodoxy compete within the artistic field for a symbolic domination over other participants. At the core interest of this study, there is a question to what extent chosen Polish museums and staff apply the principles of the New Museology in their daily practice.

MODA TASARIMI ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN ETİK KAVRAMINA BAKIŞ AÇILARININ DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ: ESKİŞEHİR ÖRNEĞİ

Author(s): Ayşe Seçil Tekin Akbulut / Language(s): Turkish Issue: 08/2013

Professionals are supposed to conduct their duties in accordance with a set of ethical standards accepted by all members of the profession. These standards determine what they should or should not do or what is right or wrong in the workspace. The classification and description of these moral questions are even more difficult when artistic creation is in question. Duplicating previous works, re-using some parts of the previous studies to create a new work and stealing from other designers’ productions can be observed in the profession. Moreover, the use of ecologically friendly materials is emphasized recently. However, the degree to which these behaviours are judged as ethical or unethical depends mostly on the rigour and conscience of the creators. In this regard, the current study administered a questionnaire to address above constructs among 135 fashion design students in Eskişehir, Turkey. Participant perceptions regarding the professional ethics of fashion designers were investigated. An exploratory factor analysis revealed a two-factor structure. Factors were named as ethics during creativity and environmental awareness. The analysis explained 46 per cent of the total variance and factors had high internal consistency coefficients. Participants’ averages did not differ with regard to gender whereas differences among classes were observed. Findings are discussed followed by implications and suggestions for further implementations.

Witraże koszalińskiej katedry w świetle źródeł archiwalnych

Author(s): Krystyna Rypniewska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 6/2018

During many centuries of existence, the present church under the invocation of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Koszalin changed its architectural shape and the character of the interior. The principal changes in its architecture were mainly due to the extensive restorations and numerous renovation works with a smaller scope. The second important pre-war temple restoration, carried out in 1914, was connected with the creation of colored glazed windows of the presbytery, the nave and the side naves of the church. For nearly one hundred years the stained-glass windows of the cathedral in Koszalin remained anonymous. Only recently, the hundred-year-old files found in the church’s office revealed priceless facts from the point of view of research on stained glass of West Pomerania, concerning the process of creating these interesting works of art. In the preserved rich correspondence from 1914 and the beginning of 1915, we find information about the previously unknown cathedral performers, whose design and implementation, after a previous competition, was finally commissioned by Ferdinand Müller’s studio in Quedlinburg. Unknown church archives also reveal the client of the whole work, founder of the presbytery window and many details of the process of creating projects in the field of the overall concept and execution of stained glass. Above all, however, this significant group of documents, currently stored in the Archives of the Koszalin-Kolobrzeg (Kołobrzeg) Diocese, significantly supplements the catalog of stained glass windows drawn up by the German researchers by the studio in Quedlinburg.

Ciało jako nowe medium społeczne w performatyce litewskiej: jak dyskurs wchodzi w materię?

Author(s): Basia Nikiforova,Kęstutis Šapoka / Language(s): English Issue: 22/2017

This article deals with the concept of new materialism and examines the issue of how new materialism tackles visual art in innovative ways – though the intersections of artistic practice, art-as-research, and philosophical analysis. Selected artworks by S & P Stanikas and Evaldas Jansas are analyzed in this paper as body reconceptualization in Lithuanian art, employing the approach of new materialism. We will explore the geopolitical and ideological background, in which Lithuanian and Polish visual artists grapple with cultural binaries from the 1960s to the 1990s: male-female gendered bodies, traditional or contemporary art, and the artist as free individual or the one tied to ideology. Employing Rossi Braidotti’s term “affirmative”, this article poses a question whether it is possible to argue on the analyzed cases that “affirmative politics combines critique with creativity in the pursuit of alternative visions and projects”.

Art education as a way of preserving the traditional ethnocultural identity of indigenous minority peoples from the North, Siberia and the Far East

Art education as a way of preserving the traditional ethnocultural identity of indigenous minority peoples from the North, Siberia and the Far East

Author(s): Maria Alexandrovna Kolesnik,Natalia Mikhailovna Libakova,Ekaterina Anatol’evna Sertakova / Language(s): English Issue: 4/2018

Introduction. This paper presents analysis of the opportunities offered by a modern art education as an effective tool for the preservation of the cultural identity of indigenous peoples residing in the North, based on material from the Krasnoyarsk Territory. The objective of the paper is to conduct a comprehensive study of the existing educational practices in the field of art education in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory, clarify their role in formation of students' ethnocultural identity–representatives of the minority indigenous peoples of the North, Siberia and the Far East. Materials and Methods. This article is based on analysis of field research completed within the period from 2010 onwards in the Northern areas of the Krasnoyarsk Territory (Evenk Municipal District, and Taymyr Dolgan-Nenets Municipal District). Semi-structured expert interviews were employed as the main method. The respondents were specialists engaged in implementing educational programs in the field of art education, as well as artists who emerged during the development of these programs. Results. A comprehensive study on art education in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory has been carried out. The authors have conducted the analysis of contemporary practices in the academic process of working with representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North attending educational institutions of various levels, and a number of expert interviews have been conducted. Based on the analysis of the data collected during fieldwork, it has been concluded that modern educational practices in the area of art education among representatives of the minority indigenous peoples of the North serve as a tool which contributes to shaping a positive ethnocultural identity. Issues both in the area of art education and in its future development have been revealed. Conclusions. The comprehensive study of art education in the north of the Krasnoyarsk Territory has led to the identification of the most successful practices for enabling new generations of the minority indigenous peoples of the North to be familiarized with their ancestors' traditions. Drawbacks have also been found. In the interviews, experts cite the absence of consistent cohesion between different levels of art education as a problem. However, the educational program, as the experts in the area of art education and the students themselves note, serves as a powerful factor in the formation of an ethnocultural identity: at both the supplementary and professional levels of education.

The so-called Śiva Vāman image from Mansar is presently placed in the National Museum, New Delhi. There are several controversies on its religious identification. Earlier scholars were of the opinion that it is a Buddhist deity but later, many scholars have identified the image as a śaivite Brāhmanical deity. This religious controversy still continues about Mansar site i.e. Hidimba hill/MNS 3 where the so-called Śiva Vāman was discovered. "Vidi coelum novum et terram novam". Treści ideowe i geneza form Kaplicy Matki Boskiej Karmelitańskiej we Frydmanie

Author(s): Maria Kazimiera Staniszewska / Language(s): Polish Issue: 17/2017

The paper deals with the chapel located by the parish church in Frydmanin the Spiš (Scepusium) region, founded by the local parish priest Michał Lorencs in 1764.The interior of the octagonal building, is fitted with a homogeneous set of furnishingsconsisting of a centrally located two-sided retable surmounted by a unique shrine inthe form of a glazed star, and numerous wooden sculptures decorating niches in the walls. The chapel used to be a pilgrimage site and became the founder’s resting place. The paperdiscusses the history of the chapel, the religious and political context of its foundation aswell as problems explored in earlier studies, both popular and scholarly ones, with specialattention devoted to the article by Jan Białostocki and Adam Miłobędzki, from 1957, thathas served as a crucial point of reference in the existing interpretations of the chapel.Further, the article attempts to elucidate the still unresolved problem of the origins of thechapel’s plan and forms of its retable, pointing to the traits they share with the sacred architectureof pilgrimage sites, particularly shrines. The Chapel of the Holy Shroud in Turin hasbeen suggested as the closest counterpart for the Frydman chapel as far as its architecturalplan, the retable type and the way of displaying relics are concerned. The soft, flowing linesof the a-tectonic forms of the retable, in turn, seem to resemble South-German small-scalearchitectural church furnishings from the mid-eighteenth century. As far as the message carried by the decoration of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Chapel isconcerned, selected Old- and New Testament figures, depicted in the retable and wall niches, have been identified, and particular themes represented in the above decoration have beendetermined. The first, sepulchral, theme is manifested in the unmarked burial site of FatherLorencs, located ad sanctos, in the immediate proximity of the relics of catacomb saints. The next, Carmelite, theme is related to the Scapular Confraternity that had been associatedwith the chapel and church. The paper discusses also the Marian symbolism of the chapel, already explored to some extent in earlier literature, and its prominent Christological andEucharistic themes, which have hitherto not been adequately examined. In conclusion, OurLady of Mount Carmel Chapel is considered as a symbolic representation of the HeavenlyJerusalem and a powerful profession of faith in the intercession of saints and the Virgin Marybefore God.

The text presents part of the results of a larger research about what and how the media write about the „estrade” and the „pop” music after 1990. How was the connection between music and politics during socialism and the transition to democracy portrayed in the newspapers after 1990? What are the political messages in the journalistic stories that come from the figures of the estrade music? Here you will find the results and the analysis of the selected research questions only between 2006 and 2009. This is a period after and before elections during which rallies, and party concerts are not key events. Instead the TVs start to use the estrade musicians in a new way. They invite them to be part of the juries of blooming TV reality shows. The Estrada musicians are turned into a public „censor” dictating what is the role or the musician in the society.
