In this paper, the author presents several challenges associated with teaching a technical subject that blends statistics, computer science, and specific subject-matter knowledge to an academically-accomplished but mostly non-technical audience. He also talks about some of the difficulties that he faced as an instructor dealing with three levels of newness: the course was brand new, so there was no prior blueprint upon which to fall back; the concepts presented in the course were completely new to the students; and some of the material was relatively new to him as well. After describing these challenges, he shares several lessons learned regarding instructional material and approaches that succeeded with the audience, as well as some candid reflections about areas in which he can improve future iterations of the course.

Vakufi su bili višenamjenske zadužbine koje su imale pobožnu i dobrotvornu svrhu. Obredni, socijalno-humanitarni, obrazovno-vaspitni, infrastrukturni i drugi sektori bili su najzastupljeniji sektori kada su u pitanju namjene i svrhe vakufa. Cilj ove studije je da uz pomoć deset Rumelijskih hurufat deftera u kojima se pominje Tašlidža utvrdimo broj vakufa u samom gradu i pljevaljskim selima, kao i broj i imena zaposlenih lica u džamijama, mesdžidima, mektebima i medresama, njihove funkcije, datume njihovih imenovanja na te funkcije i iznose dnevnih nadoknada u akčama koje su primali. Tako će biti jasnija slika o vakufima u Pljevaljskom sandžaku od sredine XVIII do sredine XIX vijeka.

The Workers' Cultural Society Svoboda (Freedom) was a leading workers' cultural organisation in Maribor between the two World Wars. The society contributed greatly to the rise of popular education and culture. It was divided into several sections such as drama and recitals, sports, nature trips, chess, singing and tamburitsa. The society organised lectures on issues related to the workers' movement. In 1935, the Svoboda society was banned by the authorities because of its political activity. However, only a year later, the Vzajemnost (Solidarity) Society was founded in its stead. It organized lectures, discussions, cultural evenings, singing and theatrical performances, thereby contributing towards a greater general education and Marxist re-education. By dealing with the current socio-economic issues, it attracted workers as well as inteligentsia and students. Among those who collaborated with the Vzajemnost were several prominent Slovenian cultural workers, such as Bogo Teply, Ivan Favai, Jože Babič and Anton Tanc.

Leaders who influence their followers with personal traits and skills and guide them within the determined objectives have generally come forward with these positive aspects and have been the subject of researches. Performance decline is experienced due to the managerial understanding lately, especially some corporate enterprises and this circumstance made it necessary to examine the different aspects of the concept of leadership. The main purpose of this study is to examine the effects of the dark leadership, which is expressed as negative attitudes of leaders, on organizational voice and job satisfaction. By using the simple random method, data has obtained from the 540 teachers who works in primary and secondary schools affiliated to Kağızman District National Education Directorate with survey technique. Data have been analyzed by SPSS program. According to the results of the analysis, dark leadership attitudes has a low, significant and negative effect on organizational voice and job satisfaction.

The use of technologies in the educational field tends to be discussed every time a new gadget is launched regardless of the subject or content area in which it could be applied. In this sense, the goal of these continuous discussions on technology use is to balance the advantages and disadvantages of each new gadget and consider the possible effects in the learning process. This paper introduces a bibliographical review on the application of serious games as a pedagogical resource and on the responsible use of mobile phones in the classroom; and it aims at discussing how the use of these games played with Smartphones can raise students’ motivation and their interest in the process of learning languages for specific purposes in tertiary education. In conclusion, it seems that the application of these educational gadgets could be advantageous for the students in their learning process if they are used correctly with a well established protocol.

The aim of this article is to explore how education was used to build state authority in the Soviet System. Education has always been a method of building state authority. As it was followed by multiple nation-states, the Soviet case presents a similar course both at the state and union level, whereby the state pursues to construct an environment that is consistent with the state’s intent to shape its own society. Soviet education, with its centrally planned nature, was designed to create a standard individual that was in line with communist principles, even though leadership changes had ultimate challenged education policies. Education in the USSR appeared to be a tool of justifying not only the regime but also the promotion of the values of political leadership. Nevertheless, state-centric, centrally planned educative circles, failed to feed the overall system in order to sustain itself instead of educating the individual’s free mind. The history, ideology, purpose, and philosophy of the Soviet education system will be analyzed in order to show how the Soviets had established a very comprehensive education policy, as well as how they had employed various methods in order to strengthen the basis for the ‘perfect’ society.

The classroom-management makes the work of the teacher easier. Its application leads to the improved discipline in the classroom and helps building good relationships between teacher and students. Many studies demonstrate that good relationships between teachers and students decrease by more than 30% the discipline problems in classroom.The article explains the philosophy of the classroom-management as a preventive-oriented organization of lessons and overviews the most important instruments of the classroom-management. The article also focuses on how using rituals during the lessons leads to maintaining of quietness in classroom and to reduction of conflicts among students. A Scale for observation is introduced, by means of which the teachers will raise their competence regarding the classroom-management.

This paper aims to share the experience gained from teaching botany at the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University, when classroom teaching is combined with permanent access to digital teaching materials and online tests. We compared a set of long-term data (2002-2017) of exam scores of 3888 students in both classical and blended learning compulsory bachelor courses related to teaching of Algae and Fungi. The results obtained clearly show the advantages of blended education for both teachers and students. It is suggested that e-testing is nature-friendly and green due to zero paper consumption. Taking into account all benefits and traits of e-testing and education, we recommend them to all our colleagues for their future work.

Research of the reasons for creating a university-students TV station. After the failure of the state’s television model in the EU, the national public television has editorial independence only in Great Britain, Republic of Ireland, Sweden and Estonia. In other countries there is a lack of independence and freedom of speech. The elementary ideas and goals of the commercial television are also disappointing. The University TV is the fourth chance to create quality TV programs of public interest, which is independent of political and financial interests. Analysis of the situation with existing electronic media. Showing that, currently, there seems to be no other way to increase the level of quality content offered to the TV audience.
