The objective of the paper is to investigate the relations of the customers' participation in product boycott and values preferred by them. The conceptual framework is based on the Schwartz’s theory of human values. Data from the European Social Survey are used to test research hypotheses. Findings clearly show that consumers who take part in product boycotts place greater importance on independence as well as they attach less importance to conservatism (tradition, conformity, security) and egoistic values (power, achievement) then other consumers.

The paper presents possibilities of co-participation of inhabitants in management and development of a territorial unit. On the background of the main objectives of DART model an attempt was made to adapt it to the specificity of a territorial unit. The study of 223 residents of Podkarpackie voivodeship showed that young people were rather weakly involved in the development of their community. Their dissatisfaction was caused above all by poor opening of local authorities to initiatives of young, educated people. To counteract it one should rely on a dialogue and strengthening relationships with residents through multidirectional communication, especially social media.

The article should analyze the situation when the state regulatory policy actually hampers the development of enterprises, leading to significant losses in carrying out even the simplest of transactions. It negatively affects the financial performance, including the income. We need to consider ways in which companies can implement socially responsible activities only if for this they have appropriate financial resources. Therefore, the absence of favorable for business development of regulatory policy is one of the factors inhibiting social responsibility of Ukrainian enterprises. The article analyzes the financial framework of corporate social responsibility in the transformation period of transition from a centrally planned to a market economy , as well as at the present stage . Connection of the social responsibility of business with the financial activity of Ukrainian enterprises is defined, as well as the possibility of using foreign experience in the Ukrainian realities. It is obvious that the change of concepts of CSR towards the economic motivation for its implementation would not take place if there was no real positive impact of strengthening the social functions of companies on their financial situation. We can distinguish the following main factors of influence: stimulation of personnel to maximize their labor due to increasing the interest in the outcome of companies, increasing human potential; advancing the competitiveness of companies in the labor market, the possibility of attracting the most qualified employees; reduction of financial losses due to companies creating the conditions to prevent industrial action; improving the company's image in the eyes of customers, suppliers and authorities, as well as the value of its brands, that has particular importance in terms of the growing role of intangible assets of companies that is recorded in the world last decade; increasing the investment attractiveness due to making them more transparent economic activities in the framework of CSR (it has a partly positive impact on raising funds by issuing of securities in the implementation of IPO); CSR standards take into account some of the rating agencies in determining the rankings of companies that in some way affect the financial results of their activity. The foregoing allows us to conclude that the development of the social functions at the level of individual enterprises, the enhancing of their social responsibility corresponds the tendencies inherent in the developed countries. It can be considered as one of the important directions of improving the financial situation of industrial enterprises in Ukraine.

The relationship between the development of economics and economic performance is not reducible to any set of simple rules. Among the historians of economic thought there is even a handful of those who perceive the progress in economics mostly as an outcome of the attempts to solve the problems, inconsistencies and paradoxes within economic theory itself. Seen from this perspective, economic reality has minor (or no) importance. On the other hand, the endeavours to modify a mainstream approach are significantly greater in times of economic downturns. Seeing that economics is in such a state of ‘intellectual ferment’ nowadays, it is worth reconsidering the connection between economics and the economy. Thus the main aim of the paper is to analyse the current state of economic science in relation to the last economic slump. Although it is of course not possible to predict the future trajectories of economic theorising, taking into consideration the nature of the crisis the most feasible and potentially most fruitful areas are indicated.

Consumer culture in the era of late modernity undergoes dynamic changes of global significance. One of the key attributes of these changes constitutes an increasing supply of opportunities and quantitative volumes of different product options. However, this trait of so-called “consumer society” is largely ambivalent. On the one hand, expansion of opportunities constitutes a desirable source of realisation and emancipation of personal freedoms and independence; on the other hand, demands on the ability to individually manage the consequences of one’s own decisions (and to take responsibility for these decisions) increase. We can see this ambivalence well with respect to an example of two different adaptive strategies of consumer choice – maximizers and satisficers. Maximizers are likely to achieve better objective outcomes of their selections than satisficers, but their subjective perception of these results is, according to empirical evidence, more affected by negative emotions. These and other findings should be used more extensively in the marketing practice associated with business strategies.

The author makes a reconstruction of one scattered coin hoard. The coins are discovered in the village of Eleshnitsa, Blagoevgrad district. The village is situated on both sides of the Zlataritsa River, a tributary of the Mesta river (anc. Nestus). The coin hoard is homogeneous. It is composed only of tetradrachms with the name of Philip II (359-336).The author analyzes all similar finds from Southwestern Bulgaria. This is the territory of the rivers Struma (anc. Strymon) and Mesta. There are also 6 very similar homogeneous coin hoards: Pelatikovo, Kyustendil district; Dupnitsa, Kyustendil district (IGCH 729); Ranentsi, Kyustendil district (IGCH 821); Kyustendil area; Gospodintsi, Gotse Delchev area (IGCH 819); Ribnovo, Gotse Delchev area (IGCH 820). Of them in the valley of Upper Struma are: Pelatikovo, Kyustendil district; Dupnitsa, Kyustendil district (IGCH 729); Ranentsi, Kyustendil district (IGCH 821); and Kyustendil area. The coin hoard from the village of Eleshnitsa is territorially situated between the finds from Upper Struma and the coin hoards from Gospodintsi, Gotse Delchev area (IGCH 819) and Ribnovo, Gotse Delchev area (IGCH 820). The last two coin hoards are downstream of the Mesta River. In addition to the homogeneous finds, the author commented and the mixed ones, which are found in the north in the region of the town of Pernik and the city of Sofia. The closest parallel of the coin hoards from the village of Eleshnitsa is the coin hoard from the village of Pelatikovo, Kyustendil district. There are 6 tetradrachms from Pelatikovo identical to 5 tetradrachms from Eleshnitsa. The find from the village of Eleshnitsa probably was hidden shortly after 294 BC. It can be assumed it happened at the time of the struggles between Demetrius Poliorcetes and Lysimachos?

Advergames have been appearing alongside digital games since the very beginning. Although they had been originally created as marketing tools, their gaming nature has made from them an important part of digital-gaming industry heritage. At the same time, advergames, which persisted over time, may represent significant advantages for the brands they promote. The aim of the study is an examination of advergames’ timelessness based on a theoretical framework and a qualitative-quantitative content analysis of advergames released across their history up to 2000, taking into account aspects of both digital games’ and advertising timelessness. Besides general popularity, archetypal character, current playability and preservation, the analysis also focuses on the advergame design and brand implementation forms.

The issue of the exhaustibility and limited of natural resources has been noticed, among others, as a result of intensive economic development and civilization progress. In the second half of the 20th the emission of industrial and municipal pollutants, mainly as a result of burning fossil fuels, also became a serious problem. The article presents the essence and manifestations of the economy in a closed circuit and its impact on shaping sustainable socio-economic development, as well as the analysis of the possibilities of implementing these principles in business practice and in everyday life. According to the authors, managing in a closed circulation appears to be the highest stage of civilization development. Closing the so-called the loop and the economic cycle is becoming real in many areas as a result of extending the life cycle of products, the use of an ever-wider range of waste as secondary raw materials — instead of primary raw materials, the use of renewable energy sources, rationalization of water and forest management, etc.

The aim of this paper is to examine the notion of social mechanisms by comparison with the notions of evolutionary and physical mechanisms. It is argued that social mechanisms are based on trends, and not lawlike regularities, so that social mechanisms are different from mechanisms in the natural sciences. Taking as an example of social causation the abolition of the slave trade, this paper argues that social mechanisms should be incorporated in Weber’s wider notion of adequate causation in order to achieve their explanatory purpose.

If the field of economics has today become the archetype for determinism in the social sciences, it comes at the price of a form of objectivity founded on the complex process of the reduction and naturalization of a certain type of social relation, a process best described via the real approach or the ‘approach by value.’ A radical critique of this process requires the deconstruction of this dominant approach, characterized by the articulation of neoclassical theory and economic liberalism. It is only once the repression of the desire for money, a repression constitutive of false economic objectivity, has been denounced that the standard model can then be subject to such a critique. This will in turn open the possibility of an economic theory which is radically anti-naturalist.

The Tokugawa Era of Japan is known for its domination by the shogunate, or warrior bureaucracy. While samurai capture the popular imagination, the merchant class of this era was changing their cultural narrative as well. The regime, officially Neo-Confucian, considered trade a vulgar and corrupting activity, but among commoners, especially in Osaka, a culture arose celebrating the virtue of commerce. Merchant scholars and commoners assailed the orthodoxy by putting forth alternate interpretations of Confucianism, and later by abandoning the entire Confucian framework. Their primary goal was to explore the nature of virtue and commerce, and justify their own place in the world. As a side effect, the marriage of virtue to commerce allowed a nexus of long-term relationships to arise, based in Osaka.
