Rodila sam se u Čikagu, 30. decembra 1946. godine usred vrtloga ogromne snežne mećave. Moj otac je morao da pomaže taksisti pri probijanju sa širo otvorenim prozorom, duž dela autoputa Lejk Šor Drajv, dok se moja mama porađala. Bila sam slabašno (sitnačko) novorođenče pa se moj otac svojski trudio da me održi u životu držeći me na pari iznad korita sa vrelom vodom, kako bih mogla lakše da dišem. Misliću na njih oboje kada budem zakoračila na pozornicu Rivijera Teatra u Čikagu, sa mojim bendom, sinom i ćerkom, na svoj sedamdeseti rođendan.

The article is devoted to some features of the so-called literature of fact, to the specification of the way citation functions in this type of literature, and to the analysis of inter-textual references which exist in the short story Stigma by Gustaw Herling-Grudziński, and the relationship between the Stigma and the short stories by Warlam Shalamov, mostly – between the Stigma and the short story Cherry Brandy. The main subjects of the reflection are ways in which Herling uses motives and themes, which have appeared for the first time exactly in Sherry Brandy. The article shows the use of these motives from the perspective of postmodernism and all existence of literature of fact in times of total postmodernism domination.
