Author(s): Martin Gumiela / Language(s): German Issue: 4/2023

This essay examines the investigation of high-ranking Security Office officer Jan Tataj during increasing numbers of internal purges in Stalinist Poland. Although the starting point for the investigation was provided by “inconsistencies” in Tataj’s curriculum vitae, the investigating officers of the Security Office soon declared his acquaintance with two young women to be the main subject of the entire proceedings. Since both women had previous ties to the anti-communist resistance, it was insinuated that they had used their acquaintance with Tataj for espionage purposes, and thus the Security Office accused Tataj of a lack of vigilance toward these women. Both Tataj and the two women were eventually sentenced to several years of imprisonment by the Military Tribunal in Warsaw after a year-long investigation. The paper primarily analyzes the extent to which the investigating officers considered the two women dangerous because of their gender in the context of contemporary images of women (co-)created by the Stalinist regime, and how incriminating evidence of Tataj’s lack of “vigilance” was generated in this context.

Author(s): Nezrin Seyfulov,Mariya Ignatova,Plamena Dimitrova,Antoniy Markovski,Stanislava Vasileva,Klara Dokova / Language(s): Bulgarian Issue: 2/2022

The purpose of this study is to present the development of the specialty “Healthcare Management” from its establishment at the beginning of the twentieth century to the present day, in the USA – the country where this new professional field started to develope at the earliest. Material and methods: A narrative review of full-text articles applying historical method is carried out, revealing the stages and factors that determine the development of the specialty. Results and conclusions: There are three historical stages in the development of the specialty healthcare management in the USA – the foundation of the specialty (1900 - 1944), the period of expansion (1945 - 1970) and a period of adaptation to the changing healthcare regulations and contemporary social challenges (1970 - to the present). The factors that drive the process of development of the specialty in the three stages vary and the most prominent are: turbulent development of the medical science, standardization of the processes of higher education (incl. medical), investments in the hospital sector in the second phase; development of the managed care and health maintenance organizations, healthcare reforms since 2010 as a result of the for affordable care act, as well as the modern technological boom in the health sector.

MENTALNO OKRUŽENJE JAVNE SFERE: EVROPSKA PERSPEKTIV

MENTALNO OKRUŽENJE JAVNE SFERE: EVROPSKA PERSPEKTIV

Author(s): Margaret C. Jacob / Language(s): Serbian Issue: 2/2021

Author(s): Vladimir Sadek / Language(s): French Issue: 1/1984

The contribution pays attention to the most important responsive texts (she’eloth u-teshuvoth, shu”t) concerning the religious history of Jews in Bohemia and Moravia, their culture, etc. Besides their religious and legal importance, they are also historical sources. Medieval te(xts are discussed first (Yitshak bar Moshe Or Zarua, Asher ben Yehiel, Eliezer ben Nathan, Shelomo ben Abraham Adret, Yisrael Isserlein, Yisrael ben Hayyim Brunna, and others), then the main responsive texts dating from the 16th—17th centuries are characterized (Polish responsa, Menahem Mendel Krochmal, Yona ben Eliyahu Landsofer, and others). As for the 18th and 19th centuries, responsa by Ezechiel Landau, Shemuel Landau and Eleazar Fleckeles are mentioned.
