There are several different hypothesis about the origin of ekavisms of Ekavian-Jekavian speeches of Tešanj-Maglaj area, Gojko Ružičić's hypothesis being one of them. According to it the substitution of yat was realized in another area, “probably in the vicinity of the Sava River“, where from the Ekavian-Jekavian characteristics of speech were transferred to the area of Tešanj and Maglaj due to migration. This paper discusses the Ružičić's hypothesis and migration of the Bosniak population from Slavonia by the end of seventeenth century as a possible source of ekavisms in the speeches of the Tešanj-Maglaj area. The author shows that the evidence for the import of ekavism into Tešanj-Maglaj area is qiute probable, but that Ružičić's hypothesis could be "reinforced" by defters or other historical documents indicating that at least some Ekavian-Jekavian settlements of the Tešanj-Maglaj area have been mentioned for the first time after the great migration from Posavina. Such documents, however, are not available to us, because the Turkish registers of the villages in the Tešanj-Maglaj area made after the 1604th are not arranged. Other documents that might indicate a safe solution of the problem have not been found.

This paper analyzes the stylistic features of archaic forms in medieval literary expression which, based on their functions as such, enables the derivation of a conclusion about the literary value of the medieval letters and epigraphic texts. The origin of stylistic archaisms in these texts is in relation to elements of medieval manners of writing, which is based, on the one hand, on conservative western dialect and literary prestige of Slavonic Church forms on the other. These two types of stylemes (dialectal and Church Slavonic origin) are built, more or less, into all secular texts.

This paper deals with an analysis of stylistic value of lexical connectors in the literary work of Grozdanin kikot by Hamza Humo. The analysis is focused in stylistic figure repetitions as one of the most obvious signals of recurrence and text cohesion in Grozdanin kikot. In addition, the analysis includes their semantic-stylistic qualities established with their structural and rhythm-melodic effects. Stylistic figure repetitions are investigated as integral parts of extraordinary poetic structure of Grozdanin kikot, which are potentially predetermined for passing of intensified expressiveness.

The issue of border subjects is paralleled by the issue of cultural translation as a process which understands a relationship with differences, pointing at the fact that they do not necessarily have to lead to assimilation but also affirm and demand to accept non-identicality. Beside the fact that Jozef Pronek is revealed as a sub alter subject who cannot speak, the community which ostracises him is autistic; being self-enamoured it closes itself and does not (want to!) hear the other. However, the marginal perspective of Jozef Pronek did not merely articulate „the happy place of the margin“ by subverting the (if not equally legitimate, then at least obstructing the codified) meta-story from the inside, the dominant discourse of the Other, but it also revealed that even silenced, the marginalised speak through the body, which becomes the textualised place of speech, certainly representing the self. Apart from the body, by asking questions to the Other, Pronek provokes from the inside the collective one of the American culture, which is represented in homogenizing autocratic (!?) infatuation in superlatives. Thus cultural difference is firstly understood as an attempt to rearticulate the acquired sum of knowledge by a society, a nation, which in the words of Bhabha, from the perspective of the indicating position of the minority withstands the totalisation and thus affirms the polyphony inside the narration.

This paper discusses the polysemy, synonimy and anthonymy of the phrasemes in the novel Fear Imam written by Dervis Susic. Analyzing semantic aspect of the phrasemes it’s been found that the polysemy is rare as well as that the synonyms are more common than antonyms and that they are mainly based on the global meaning of synonyms.

This paper points out to more important linguistic features of the Western Shtokavian dialect in a wider timespan. While evolving throughout its development, the Western Shtokavian retains its more typical characteristics, but simultaneously accepts other linguistic features of the next closest dialect, the Southern Shtokavian, with whom it makes a special, interfering dialectal space, which will, later on, substantially define the character of the modern and standard Bosnian language.

This paper’s innovation is the introduction of a misperception effect to the core-periphery model. Using a theoretical model, we show that the free market will lead to distorted spatial distribution of firms between the core and the periphery when a misperception effect is introduced into the model. Based on a questionnaire, we found that a misperception regarding the quality of the production factor exists in favour of the core compared to the periphery. This misperception is found not only in the eyes of the core with regard to the periphery, but also in the periphery regarding itself. We suggest marketing and empowerment of the periphery as a policy tool to alter these misperceptions.

Because of aggravating antisocial behaviour (ASB) or the neighbourhood problem in housing, many western governments have given ASB control a central place in their policy agendas. However, tackling ASB often involves a great deal of politics. Although ASB and controlling it have attracted much scholarly attention, the focus has almost always been placed on social housing. It is unclear whether this problem does not exist in other types of housing or if it is simply ignored. Drawing on a study of private housing developments in Hong Kong, this article examines the extent and seriousness of ASB as a problem in private housing. It shows that the problem does raise wide concerns among residents, and that many residents complain about noise nuisances and littering in their living places. On the other hand, most residents feel that the efforts of housing management agents in countering the problem are in vain or inadequate. In fact, when reacting to ASB, housing managers inevitably face a number of issues that originate from the joint appointment of managers by all homeowners and the lack of enforcement powers. In particular, controlling some neighbourhood nuisances is difficult and costly. This article concludes with an agenda for empirical research to explain the proliferation of ASB from the transaction-cost perspective.

Novost, ki jo prinaša ta članek, je uporaba učinka napačnega dojemanja na modelu središče-obrobje. Na podlagi teoretičnega modela bomo pokazali, da na prostem trgu ob uvedbi učinka napačnega dojemanja v model pride do napačne porazdelitve podjetij med središčem in obrobjem. Anketa z vprašalnikom je potrdila, da obstaja napačno dojemanje kakovosti proizvodnih dejavnikov, in sicer v korist središča. To napačno dojemanje lahko najdemo tako v pogledih središča na obrobje kot v pogledih obrobja nase. Za spremembo teh napačnih dojemanj bi se moralo obrobje bolj tržiti, obenem pa tudi krepiti svojo vlogo in svoj položaj v državi.

Izbrani prostorski učinki globalne finančne in gospodarske krize v Ljubljani

Leta 2007 je v Združenih državah Amerike izbruhnila finančna kriza, ki se je postopoma razvila v eno najhujših globalnih finančnih in gospodarskih recesij v zgodovini (post)moderne družbe. Njene posledice so številne. V članku proučujemo enega od prostorskih učinkov, to je nedokončane ali dokončane, vendar ne popolnoma zasedene novogradnje stanovanjskih in poslovnih objektov. V Ljubljani smo konec novembra leta 2011 s terenskim popisom evidentirali 97 lokacij praznih ali le delno zasedenih večstanovanjskih in poslovnih zgradb oziroma kompleksov, zgrajenih za trg, in njihovih aktivnih ali opuščenih gradbišč. Med popisanimi enotami prevladujejo pretežno večstanovanjske zgradbe in kompleksi (76 enot), ostalo so poslovne zgradbe ali zgradbe in kompleksi z izrazito mešano stanovanjsko-poslovno funkcijo. V popisanih nepremičninah je na voljo več kot 1.500 stanovanj ter skoraj 75.000 m2 poslovnih prostorov. Prostorska analiza popisanih enot kaže na razpršenost po vsem mestu, vendar z nekaj zgostitvami na območjih z najboljšo dostopnostjo ali razpoložljivim prostorom. V članku analiziramo tudi vzroke na strani ponudbe in povpraševanja za nastanek novega elementa v morfološki strukturi Ljubljane, na koncu pa nakazujemo možnosti za prihodnje raziskave na tem področju.

Living in a changing Chinese urban landscape: The Dalian case study

Dalian je drugo najpomembnejše mesto na jugu province Liaoning na severovzhodu Kitajske. Nekoč je tam stalo naselje Qingniwa, ki so ga med letoma 1858 in 1950 drug za drugim zasedli Britanci, Japonci in Rusi. Vsak osvajalec je v mestu uvedel svoj arhitekturni slog. Rusi so mesto med drugo svetovno vojno odvzeli Japoncem, leta 1950 pa so ga končno vrnili Kitajski. Po letu 1950 je bila večina stavb in območij iz časa ruskega imperija porušena zaradi prenove, ki je potekala v mestu. Največje spremembe so se zgodile po letu 1984, ko so mesto razglasili za posebno gospodarsko območje, zlasti pa v 90. letih 20. stoletja, ko je postal župan Bo Xilai, ki je v mestu uredil parke, avtoceste in krožišča. Tradicionalno grajeno okolje je skoraj izginilo; danes je to sodobno mesto, v katerem se gradijo obsežna stanovanjska naselja. V njem prevladujejo stanovanjske stolpnice, v katerih živi 5,72 milijona prebivalcev. Leta 2011 je bila med 400 prebivalci opravljena anketa, v kateri so morali ti izraziti svoje mnenje o življenju v Dalianu in na njegovem ureditvenem območju ter oceniti svoje življenjske pogoje in stopnjo zadovoljstva s stanovanji. Rezultati ankete so jasno razkrili negotovost večine anketirancev glede spremenljivk, povezanih s kakovostjo stanovanj ter z naravo, s kakovostjo in z dostopnostjo razpoložljivih storitev. Kljub temu je največ anketirancev navedlo, da imajo javni promet, odprte prostore, parke in rekreativne površine na voljo blizu doma.

Zaradi vse večjih nevšečnosti, ki jih na stanovanjskem področju povzročajo protisocialno vedenje (ang. antisocial behaviour, v nadaljevanju: ASB) in problemi v soseski, mnoge zahodnjaške vlade v svojih programih stanovanjske politike namenjajo nadzorovanju ASB osrednje mesto. Vendar je za spopadanje z ASB pogosto potrebno veliko političnih ukrepov. Čeprav se ASB in njegovemu nadzoru namenja veliko znanstvene pozornosti, je bil do zdaj glavni poudarek skoraj vedno predvsem na socialnih stanovanjih, pri čemer ni jasno, ali ta problem pri drugih vrstah stanovanj ne obstaja ali je tam preprosto prezrt. Članek temelji na raziskavi zasebnih stanovanjskih naselij v Hongkongu ter v njem sta preučena obseg in resnost problema ASB v zasebnih stanovanjih. Kaže, da ta problem pri stanovalcih povzroča veliko skrbi ter da se mnogi stanovalci pritožujejo nad hrupom in odlaganjem smeti v svojem bivalnem okolju. Po drugi strani ima večina stanovalcev občutek, da upravniki večstanovanjskih stavb pri reševanju teh problemov niso uspešni in da se z njimi ne spopadajo na primeren način. Upravniki se pri odzivanju na ASB spopadajo s številnimi neizogibnimi težavami, ki so posledica tega, da jih izberejo vsi lastniki stanovanj skupaj in da nimajo pooblastil za ukrepanje. Nadzorovanje nekaterih nevšečnosti v soseščinah je namreč zelo zahtevno in drago. Članek se konča s predlogom za empirično raziskavo, ki bi razložila širjenje ASB z vidika transakcijskih stroškov.

V članku se z institucionalno-analitično metodo ekonomske zgodovine preučujejo izvor, rast in razvoj novega zahodnoafriškega naftnega mesta Sekondi-Takoradi. Posebna pozornost je namenjena vlogi pristanišč in železnic, njihovemu razvoju in sodelovanju s politično-ekonomskimi ustanovami v preteklih stotih letih. Ta pregledna zgodovinska analiza nakazuje, da je novo zahodnoafriško mesto spet tam, kjer je bilo na začetku. Podobno kot v 20. letih 20. stoletja v državnih in mednarodnih krogih danes ponovno vzbuja nacionalno, regionalno in mednarodno pozornost. Vse kaže, da je treba znova ovrednotiti sodobne zgodbe, ki trdijo, da sta razmah virov in družbeni propad v determinističnem odnosu.

Reinventing the doubt of the icon: A virtual case study in a post-Soviet country’s capital

The main objective of this paper is to define, negotiate and debate radical socio-cultural approaches of landscape creation in today’s megacities, within a strict capitalist context. For this reason, it investigates both the theoretical and concrete manner of the spatial expression within an imposed contemporary Foucauldian state of disciplines. Therefore, the research methodology simultaneously develops two different hypotheses in order to bridge the gap between the theoretical explorations and concrete dimension of architectural creation. The primary hypothesis is based on the Lacanian dimension of doubt that is considered in this work as the Chomskyan primitive power that gives birth to every idea or concept, having the potential to exasperate the radical imaginary of each society such as it is defined in Castoriadis’ writings. The second main hypothesis is based on an analytical exploration of space creation within strict political and economical contexts. For this purpose, a post-Soviet country served as a case study in order to investigate the cultural landscape values in both communist and capitalist regimes. Hence, focusing on Armenia and especially on Yerevan’s landscape transformations during the transition from communism to capitalism, this article first departs from the need to employ a deep theoretical analysis of non-economic factors in order to guide capitalist societies through cooperation with the disadvantaged social structure that has no space in today’s megacities and, second, details an original landscape creation sketched by a real recent architectural competition that is seen here as a contemporary Foucauldian state of disciplines. The main object of the architectural composition presented in this contribution is to fulfil the competitions’ guidelines – having in mind, however, consolidation of the imposed image of global capitalism with local elements in order to form a Foucauldian heterotopia by allowing different socio-cultural identities to debate, contest or doubt the proposed iconic spatial expression. The article offers a new approach regarding the notion of doubt seen here as a positive element of architectural practice by proposing its continuous existence in the conceptual dimension of architecture.

In 2007, the United States witnessed a financial crisis that gradually developed into one of the most serious global financial and economic recessions in the history of (post)modern society. Its effects are numerous. This article studies one of its spatial effects; that is, newly built (after 2005) residential and office buildings that are either unfinished or already built but not fully occupied. In Ljubljana in November 2011, there were ninety-seven locations with unoccupied or partly occupied residential houses and office buildings or groups of houses and office buildings together with abandoned or active construction sites. The majority of the structures studied were predominately represented by several blocks of flats and groups of dwellings. The others are office buildings or buildings and complexes with distinctively mixed residential-business functions. There are more than 1,500 empty flats and almost 75,000 m² of office area in the buildings surveyed. Spatial analysis showed that the structures surveyed are relatively scattered throughout Ljubljana. However, there were some clusters of buildings, especially in areas with the best accessibility. This article analyses the causes of this phenomenon, which is creating a new morphological element in Ljubljana. The article concludes by stating possible directions for future research.

The origins, growth and trajectory of Sekondi-Takoradi, West Africa’s newest oil city, are considered by using an “institutional-analytical” method of economic history. Particular attention is given to the role of ports, harbours and railways, and how they evolved and interacted with political economic institutions in the last 100 years. This omnibus historical analysis suggests that West Africa’s newest oil city has come full circle. Its contemporary stature in national and international circles has a historical parallel in the 1920s when, as now, it captured national, regional and international attention. The evidence suggests that contemporary narratives that strike a determinist relationship between resource boom and social doom need to be reconsidered.

This article addresses the environmental aspects of an unorganised textile sector with large-scale employment through a case study of the city of Solapur in the state of Maharashtra, India. Waste generated from the textile sector is causing serious problems such as changes to land and agricultural patterns, air quality, health and biodiversity. The methodology includes qualitative and quantitative data regarding the possible impact on climate, health, agriculture, biodiversity, water, air and soil. A detailed analysis was carried out through an extensive literature review. A possible solution in the form of a sustainable networking model for mitigating change is suggested. The sustainable model with integration of information and communication technology (ICT) will help achieve the desired development goals. The role of ICT is to channelise the supply chain, which can increase the efficiency and competitiveness of the sector.

FOLLOWING THE TRACES OF GODDESS UMAY IN TURKIC JEWELLERY

It is understood that Goddess Umay, whose name is mentioned in Orhun Epigraphs, is thought to be equal to the Sky God and Ground-Water God, to establish the relations between the sky and ground, to provide all living beings with happiness, to carry souls into the sky after death, to render the eternal life and transformation possible and to be the protector of all living beings on the earth. This goddess leaving deep traces in Turkish culture and art has been preserved as a female spirit, and it has been known as the protector of women and babies. Though the iconography of Goddess Umay in Turkish art was determined during the Gokturk era, the roots of this iconography can be traced back to Eurasian geography and Goddess culture of antiquity. Therefore, especially the cultures in the first millennium BC, known as the Scythian era, provide us with plentiful materials; the descriptions of Tabiti, the ultimate Mother Goddess of Scythians, are viewed as the pioneer of Umay iconography. The traces of Umay belief in current Turkish cultures, in connection with its meaning that has been limited over time, are commonly seen on the goods and objects used by women. Preserving and protecting ability of Umay can be seen particularly in jewellery. In this study, Mother Goddess descriptions that we encounter in the cultures of Scythian era of Eurasia and the descriptions and symbols of Umay in women's jewellery that belong to current Turkic peoples were researched, and the common and similar aspects of these descriptions were pointed out. Moreover, the researcher attempted to prove that many motifs and details, the meanings of which have been forgotten, can be traced back to Umay.
