The report presents the results of the first referendum and local census conducted in Romania. The research followed several aspects: 1. Identifying the number of buildings built as people's homes: apartments, houses, boarding schools, dormitories, children's homes, cottages, etc. 2. Identifying the number of Romanian citizens who have a permanent residence in the city, even if at the time of the survey some were away in other localities in the country or abroad. 3. Assessment of external migration: how many people went abroad, in which countries, for what reasons, how much they earn, in what field they work, if they work with an employment contract or not, if there is an intention to return to the country, if there is an intention of others locals to emigrate, the reasons that would determine them to return / stay in Resita. 4. The survey was conducted between March 9-20, 2022 on a sample of 800 people living in 220 urban and regional localities in all counties of Romania, with a statistical error of +/- 3.5%. He measured the attitude of Romanians towards refugees from Ukraine, but also from other geographical regions. Compared to the similar research in October 2021, there was a 25% increase in the favorable attitude towards refugees, and it is the highest increase among young people, those with higher education, employers, those living in very large cities. Romanians are favorable to the entry of refugees from Ukraine and hypothetically from Moldova, but more reluctant to those from Asia, Africa, Latin America or the Caucasus. Romanians’ self-esteem has significantly increased for the exemplary way in which their fellow citizens have been involved in helping refugees in Ukraine, although they are aware that there is a risk of upsetting the Russian Federation.

The study presents in-depth interviews with decision makers from the Polytechnic University of Timisoara on the involvement of students in practice, research activities, their support for employment, the relationship with graduate faculties and prospects for the coming years. He points out that the professors went on vocational training courses at prestigious universities only during their doctoral period; that those in charge of the institution have only exceptionally graduated management courses; that students’ internships are different from those in Western universities (short-term, without a mentor to really guide them, with minimal, simplistic, unpaid activities, with little access to valuable information, with little use in their development professional); that the involvement of students in research activities is an exception; that the integration of graduates into the labor market is only formally monitored, without strengthening their subsequent relationship with the university; that the wave of emigration has stopped, followed by that of mobility, of work in several countries; that the Ministry of Education does not have a strategy for the insertion of graduates on the labor market.
