More...U lijepome drevnom starohrvatskom kraljevskom bosanskome, iako je mnogima u ovo sada vrijeme, ovo „bosansko“, tek kućna adresa s upitnim kućnim brojem, neupitnome staro-gradu na pletenicama slapova Plive, gradu Jajcu, na kojega polažu pravo sva tri naroda, zagranično i granično, kao i na toliko toga u ovoj zemlji ratova i krvi ljubavi i mržnji, u kojoj se onom silinom voljelo, jednako tom silinom mrzilo, rodio Šop Nikola, 1904. godine.

Svakome su čovjeku, bio on vjernik ili nevjernik, već po njegovoj ljudskoj biti, svojstvena pitanja poput ovih: otkuda dolazi i kamo ide. Uopćeni odgovori neće ga zadovoljiti. Premda se ovdje radi o pitanjima koja se tiču svih, budući da na njih potpune odgovore ne daje znanost, svaki se pojedinac mora suočiti s njima i svatko u dubinama svojega bića mora potražiti odgovor koji će za njega biti odgovarajući. O tome u kolikoj je mjeri pronađeni odgovor zadovoljio pojedinca, ovisi njegov unutarnji duhovni mir koji mu daje snagu za suočavanje s vlastitim životom i sa životima ljudi koji ga okružuju te s prolaznoš ću kojom su svi životi omeđeni.

Nemoguće je ne ponijeti tragove rodnoga kraja u sebi. Znam da kraj koji Rajko Glibo nosi u sebi uistinu ne postoji više, ali ga on svejedno ljubomorno čuva onakvim. Po brjegovima i dolima rasute kućice daleko jedne od drugih, za u dovik, za u nečuj, gluho i daleko... sačuvane zasebnosti fi lozofi je življenja. Rajko Glibo cijeli život piše jednu knjigu, čiji mu naslov neizmjerno znači, Mudrost Rame... Rama... ni... Bosna... ni... Hercegovina... već... ono... „I“ između Bosne i Hercegovine, na pola puta od jedne i od druge, ili sama između njih dvije... Kraljevstvo Rame...

The present study analyzes Nicol Ljubić’s novel, Meeresstille (translated into English as The Stillness of the Sea), which focuses on a case brought before the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in The Hague, Netherlands, concerning crimes allegedly committed during the Bosnian War by Zlatko Šimić. On this historical background, a love affair is also developed: one of the trial spectators is the historian Robert, Ana Šimić’s friend. Besides trying to find out the truth about a man whom Ana admires and is a reputed professor of literature, Robert is even more interested in how each witness recreates the facts. Therefore, we will follow how Ljubić’s novel deals with several questions or issues: How can different generations deal with the past, with the guilt, and how can they know the truth? Is the truth still relevant, or is the discourse about the past more important? Having Croatian roots, Nicol Ljubić identifies himself with the character’s attempt to relate to his own history. The external perspective, however, leads not to an emotional narrative, but to a documentary. The textual frame of the trial is repeatedly interrupted by Robert’s flashbacks about his family and about his relationship with Ana (who is not present at the trial). The detailed research undertaken by Robert, while trying to learn as many perspectives as he can, reveals only hypotheses that can be staged as a Shakespearian play (Zlatko Šimić’s and Ana’s favourite author). The narrative can be described by the phrase “the stillness of the sea”, but history’s restlessness proves that there are no clear boundaries between victims and oppressors.

A. B. Simic's essayistic work is characterized by the usage of critical, polemical, programmatic and aphoristic devices in an unambiguous affirmation of the expressive nature of artistic creature and an unequivocal negation of poetic adequacy and ethical traditionalism. The unambiguity of critical and poetical utterances unveils a tendentious configuration of Simic's discourse. Such structuring is most clearly manifested in Simic's antagonistic attitude towards the concept and model of journalism which is understood in the author's perspective as a specified value. Using the dialectical insights of critical theory, especially those by Habermas, Bloch's historical and philosophical insights, Foucault, Koselleck, and Terry Eagleton's literary theory, this paper aims to specify the connection between the principle and purposefulness of the modern discourse as a crucial fact, both in conceptualization and shaping of Simic's poetry of anti-journalism, as well as in understanding and shaping of modern discourse in general.
