Südost-Forschungen

Frequency: 1 issues / Country: Germany

The journal “Südost-Forschungen” (Southeast Studies), which has appeared since 1936 in the form of a yearbook, is the Institute for East and Southeast European Studies' publication medium for covering historical research on Southeast Europe. Interdisciplinarily conceived, the journal is open to contributions on subjects ranging from the Byzantine era to contemporary history. In its very comprehensive review section ‟Südost-Forschungen" gives a broad overview of the current specialist literature in all relevant languages. Worthy of emphasis is the internationality of the authors, and especially the large number of contributors from Southeast Europe among them.

The focus of the journal is on essays on the history of the cultures of Southeastern Europe. In addition, contributions regarding geography, art, literature, religious studies, economics, linguistics and folklore are considered, when they are directly related to the history of Southeastern Europe. Thanks to the contributions of authors from Southeastern Europe and Western countries, "Südost-Forschungen", published annually, has developed into one of the leading journals of international Southeastern European Studies. The journal is divided into a section for essays and an extensive review section. The contributions, of which the manuscripts can also be submitted in one of the Southeastern European languages, are published in German or English, and occasionally in French or Italian.

Journal for Culture and History of the Germans in Eastern Europe

Journal für Kultur und Geschichte der Deutschen im östlichen Europa

Frequency: 1 issues / Country: Germany

The Journal for Culture and History of the Germans in Eastern Europe (JKGE) is an interdisciplinary and cross-epochal forum for current research on the culture and history of Eastern Europe. The annually published thematic issues examine the interconnections between the different cultures, religions, languages, nations and states in Eastern Europe from historical, art historical, ethnological, literary and linguistic perspectives. The focus is particularly on the Germans who used to live there, and in some cases still do.

The JKGE is the continuation of the Yearbook of the Federal Institute for Culture and History of the Germans in Eastern Europe published from 1993 to 2018. Since 2020, it is published once a year by DeGruyter/Oldenbourg as an open access online journal which is also available as print on demand.

The interdisciplinary journal is published by the Federal Institute for Culture and History of Eastern Europa (BKGE) in conjunction with an editorial board. The individual issues are published as thematic volumes with changing focal points, as conceived by a series of different editors. The contributions are reviewed through a double blind peer review process.
