Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai Iurisprudentia is the judicial series of the journal Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai.

It is an academic journal with tradition that aims to reflect the research and the views of teachers of the Law Faculty in Cluj-Napoca and also of their Romanian and foreign collaborators’. The basis of any published material is only the scientific objective reasoning and the coherent and informed argument.

Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Iurisprudentia is the successor of the Faculty of Law Annals that appeared in the 30s of last century.

The journal ceased its publication during the Second World War, and the first name with the new title was issued in 1955. Initially, the publication was biannual, but in the ‘70s and ‘80s it became semestrale. After 1990, it re-started its biannual publication and from 2009 it is issued quarterly.

Chief Editor:

The scientific journal Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai Dramatica came into being at the beginning of the year 2006 and its publication frequency has been constantly that of one issue per semester. It is thus one of the most recent academic publications within the large Studia journal series of the "Babeş-Bolyai" University. The creation of Studia UBB Dramatica is directly linked to the development of the Faculty of Theater and Television, which has become in 2005 an independent, modern, and dynamic institution (from 1991 to 2005 it had functioned as a department within the Faculty of Letters).

Due to the fact that the Faculty of Theater and Television offers programs of study in Performing Arts (the department of Theatre: Acting, Directing and Theatre Studies and Criticism), as well as in Visual Arts (the department of CFM: Cinema, Film Theory, Photography and Media), the journal Studia UBB Dramatica has gathered, from its very first issue, articles, studies, essays, interviews, performance, film and book reviews, illustrating the variety of the fields of interest of the teachers and the students of this Faculty.

During its evolution, the journal has always been trying to adapt itself to the scientific demands of the specialized literature, at the level of the content as well as at that of the form. Famous personalities of the Performing Arts field, such as Silviu Purcărete, George Banu, Andrei Şerban, Visky Andras, Marian Popescu, Marc Bogaerts, Monique Banu Borie, David Zinder, Claudia Tatinge Nascimento, have given interviews or have published in the pages of our journal.

Untill 2011, the months of issue of Studia UBB Dramatica have been June and December, each issue being coordinated by a Chief Issue editor chosen cyclically, among the editorial staff. Starting with 2012, our journal follows the current dates of issuing specific to the reference international publications in the field: March and October. Concerning the responsibility of the professional issuing of our journal, the work of the editorial staff (composed of prestigious professors of the faculty, as well as of specialists of national and international fame) is coordinated, besides the Issue Editor, by a new Chief Editor (Professor Liviu Maliţa) and a new Managing Editor (Lecturer Ştefana Pop-Curşeu).

Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai Historia appeared in 1956 twice a year ever since. Conceived in two fascicules every year, it represented the academic authority of the historians within the University from Cluj.

For more than five decades the review promoted an innovative, historiographical issue from the methodological and thematic point of view, convergent to general and national history.

Themes of medieval, modern and contemporary history, aspects concerning the social history, the history of laic and ecclesiastical institutions, the history of mentalities, the history of historiography, the history of ideas and intellectual life, the history of religious life, recent history, the impact of the debates linked to profession and the historian’s intellectual profile marked the creation and the consecration of history in the field of contemporary knowledge.

The review has had remarkable leaders within the academic community from Cluj, and the editors were and are researchers and professors from Romania and abroad.

Since its beginning the review was interested in promoting the well known historians. It also integrated in the formative process, offering institutional support for the academic didactic process.

Consequently, the review found an ample echo in the academic environments all over the world, being an important “coin” of cultural and intellectual change for Babes-Bolyai University.

The editorial board of Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai, series Bioethica welcomes original contributions in the bioethics and theology fields.

Why Bioethics and Theology? Don’t we run the risk of coming into that area of the impossibility of dialogue? We added the name of Theology, as in the Center, but first in our University there are four faculties of Theology and one Judaist Institute willing to actively support the work of this research center. Therefore one of the primary objectives of the Center for Bioethics will be the establishment of communication terms and language between the scientific and theological specific areas, knowing that theology is a sectorial which is the forefront of ministry of life, both in biological component and in its spiritual and eternal extension. The Centre will therefore be a forum for academic and teaching accurate dialogue between the two structures of the ministry and studying life for its improvement and study. Including this theological component, would not want, that through its activities, research from the Centre to replace the existing church commissions, but to communicate them the positions and necessary technical elements for defining the Church's position towards these problems without producing any damage to the autonomy of Churches. In fact, Faculties of Theology are the servants of the Church, so there is an organic relationship with ecclesiastical structures that they work for, so in this situation they express by their teachers just the canonical position of their church. But as academic structures, they must create a specific missionary social impact and should therefore be in contact with all the contemporary issues and provide the Church solutions and approaches for their solvation. That is why we think that is welcome this theological complement that by what it serves and teaches could restore the integrality of the bios concept, meaning it could boost its understanding not only under its biological relevance, but also in the theological and teleological ones. Where there will be no unity of expression and understanding, each party specifying its stated position, the topic, with accumulation of new perspectives of understanding, is to be called into discussion, without the atomization produced to the parts. [Pr. Ioan Chirilă, Ph.D., UBB Cluj-Napoca]

For more than a half-century (its first issue was published in 1956), Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai Philologia has run continuously, acquiring national and international prestige. Its fields of interest – literary and linguistic research, together with ethnology, poetics, etc. – have attracted many contributors, the great majority of them from Romania and Europe.

The publication’s thematic diversity attracted appreciation from many academic environments: European (especially Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Norway, Sweden, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland, and Russia), American and, recently, Japanese and Korean, which has lead to an increase in the number of external partners in charge of coordinating thematic issues.

Studia Universitatis is presently enjoying higher visibility in the academic circles thanks to the quality of the published material and the activity of the review committee (both domestic and foreign) who evaluate the contributions from authors and coordinators of thematic issues.

After the CNCSIS evaluation in 2005 all issues were published entirely in foreign languages, mainly in English, French and German, but also in Spanish, Italian, Norwegian and Japanese.

The editorial board have included personalities representative for the new fields of research towards which the publication is expanding. The editorial team, as well as the ISI reviewers, believe that linguistic diversity acts as a guarantee for global visibility for Studia Universitatis Babeş-Bolyai Philologia.

Studia Universitatis Babes-Bolyai Theologia Catholica, the journal of the Faculty of Greek Catholic Theology of the Babes-Bolyai University, is a scientific publication with a current frequency of four issues per year. It appeared as a response to the need for the revival of the Greek Catholic Theology, as a result of the period of prohibition imposed by the communist regime and aims to resume a recognized tradition of the Romanian United Church (Greek Catholic) to be a column of the national culture. In order to do this we intend to publish articles on topics of general interest according to all the rigors of the scientific research. Of course, they can follow both the actuality of the religious problems as well as the repayment of the cultural patrimony of our Church.

The journal includes subjects contained by the main fields of the theological themes (Biblical Theology, Dogmatic, Morality, Liturgical, Spiritual Theology, Christian Art, Religious Philosophy, Church History, Christian Archeology, etc.). The structure of the journal is continuously developing, both the regards of the interest area, as well as strengthening the scientific character.
