Studia Ecologiae et Bioethicae
Frequency: 4 issues / Country: Poland
Since 2003, the journal “Studia Ecologiae et Bioethicae” has documented the specific character, scope and development trends of the research conducted at the Institute of Ecology and Bioethics at the Faculty of Christian Philosophy at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw (UKSW), transformed in 2020 into the Centre for Ecology and Ecophilosophy. The goal of the journal is to provide a platform for the exchange of ideas, postulates, and experiences related to various manifestations of environmental crises. The journal draws on the main methodological assumption of the research conducted at the Centre for Ecology and Ecophilosophy, highlighting the need for parallel, and even complementary methodology, i.e. for adopting an empirical and humanistic approach to the contemporary ecological issues.
A special example of the said complementarity are the research findings published in the journal from the area of biological and philosophical scientific domains, since, apart from manifesting the complementary character of biology and philosophy per se, they also imply the prospective involvement in that question of specialists from many other branches of science, e.g. anthropologists, political scientists, sociologists, psychologists, educators, lawyers, economists, and theologians. This specific profile of the journal provides grounds for creative exchange of thoughts and experiences among representatives of various institutions and research centres both in Poland and abroad. Nevertheless, while remaining open to undertaking a dialogue with foreign centers, the journal is principally addressed to regional recipients and, consequently, aims at establishing cooperation with representatives of scientific institutions in Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia, Ukraine, and Slovakia.
