"Worlds and Readings" is a collection of selected articles, studies, and critical texts written at different times and on various occasions but related to the invisible threads of a constant interest in art as a universe of images and meanings, forms and significations, an interest in the book as an autonomous world, in the author as a magnetic figure-embodiment of the mysterious act of creating worlds. Bilyana Borisova is a Doctor of Literature and a lecturer of history of Bulgarian literature after the Liberation at Sofia University "St. Kliment Ohridski ". Her research is on the Bulgarian artistic avant-garde. She is co-author of "Atlas of Bulgarian Literature 1878-1914" (2003) and "Atlas of Bulgarian Literature 1915-1944" (2005).

The present volume is a collection of papers which originated from the research project The Balkan languages as an emanation of the ethnocultural community of the Balkans (Verb typology) funded in the years 2017–2020 by the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science. It can be seen as an attempt to present the state of the art in research into the grammatical categories of Balkan languages. Our main goal has been to represent a full picture of the verb system of the languages belonging to the Balkan Sprachbund, pointing out not only the similarities between them but the differences as well. That is why we have aimed at presenting a more exhaustive description of the verb categories: aspectuality, temporality, modality and the systematic connections among them; the expression of evidentiality; the problems of diathesis. This inevitably includes the processes of grammaticalization of the forms of the verb, the paths of morphologization of syntactic constructions, the transitions between modality and temporality and other phenomena in the development of the Balkan system of the verb.
