Short Description

University in Białystok, together with its Faculty of Law, has been working on its scientific position in Poland and abroad gradually, for a longer time. In 2002 we organized (in Augustów) the biggest congress of Polish historians of law so far. This was very symbolic event in our scientific presence.

In 2003 we published the first volume of works written by the scientists working in the Chair of History of State and Law. We were trying to signalize our scientific activity in this way – in the scale of our Law Faculty, but also among Polish historians of law. The next years were not worse and now we are able to present the results of our works annually. We also invite our colleagues specializing in Roman law to publish. Also our foreign – from East and West - and Polish guests are invited. Sometimes we are pleased to publish the texts of our colleagues normally dealing with contemporary law – especially when they mention old, historical legal institutions. As a result, the range of topics is substantially big, but – apart from Roman law – is clearly concentrated on the newest history of law in 20th century. This is the topic our scientists specialize in and Miscellannea Historico-Iuridica reflects this fact.
