Summary/Abstract: President Emmanuel Macron seeks closer relations with Russia, which may benefit France in the economic sphere and through an increase in international influence. Such a policy, however, may lead to undermining EU unity and NATO in their policies towards Russia, and in case of failure, it would weaken Macron’s political position in France and in the EU.
