Summary/Abstract: In this paper the short overview of the secularisation debate in sociology has been discussed from the early period (religion and modernisation), over the main arguments of the postsecularist (rational choice theory and religion) till the (neo-)secularist approach in understanding secularisation processes (secularisation as descriptive and not normative hypothesis). Further on, Phillip S. Gorski approach of “historicising the secularisation debate” has been applied on the case of Bosnia and Herzegovina in order to propose the possible agenda for the future research. Finally, an issue of political and/or religious identities has been discussed as one of the possible approach in problematising the secularisation processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina, but in modern world as well.
