Summary/Abstract: The issue of media self-regulation in Montenegro cannot be viewed in isolation from the broader social, political, and institutional context in which media operate. Although the normative and strategic framework governing media work and accountability is largely aligned with European standards, practice shows that the main challenges no longer lie in the lack of regulations, but in their consistent and effective implementation. It is precisely in this space between the normative framework and everyday media practice that the question of the functionality of self-regulation emerges as a key mechanism for advancing professional and ethical standards
