Summary/Abstract: The research of interstate relations between the Republic of Serbia, on the one hand, and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), on the other hand, poses a number of challenges to the researcher. The constitutional, legal, geographical and demographic peculiarities of these two neighboring states, as well as their common past and the history of their relations, as well as the history of the relations between Serbs and Bosnian Muslims (since 1993, Bosniaks) result in the fact that the relations between Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina cannot be successfully studied if the analysis covers only the surface of the relations, i.e. if the analysis remains focused on the formal content of the relationship between the two states.
