Summary/Abstract: The Czech Republic has actively participated in Euro-Atlantic structures, of which Germany is a member. In 1999, it joined NATO and five years later, the European Union. Over time, the Czech Republic has also developed close relations with the neighboring German states of Bavaria and Saxony. In the summer of 2015, the Foreign Ministers of the Czech Republic and Germany, Lubomír Zaorálek and Frank-Walter Steinmeier, signed a declaration on the Czech-German strategic dialogue, which is intended to contribute to the further deepening of mutual communication and cooperation based on interdepartmental cooperation. In the last three decades, trade, cultural and scientific exchange between the two countries has also developed successfully.
