Summary/Abstract: The preparation and discussion of the study was attended by experts from the International Center for Policy Studies – Mykola Kapitonenko, Anastasia Galushka, Yehor Kyyan, Maksym Stepanenko; the Ukrainian Institute for the Future – Iliia Kusa, Ihar Tyshkevich, Viktor Andrusiv; the Sanctions 2020 initiative – Anna Talimonchuk; experts from the Institute of World Policy and a number of other analytical centers. // The unblocking of the negotiation process with Russia on the settlement of the conflict in the east of our country, the “warming” of relations between the Russian Federation and some Western leaders, the return of the Russian delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, and even calls to restore Russia’s membership in the “Big Seven” are causing concern in Ukraine and beyond regarding the future regime of anti-Russian sanctions. Today, sanctions remain a key tool for putting pressure on the aggressor in matters of returning to civilized rules of the game in international relations and respect for Ukrainian independence and sovereignty. What is the strategy of the Ukrainian government and the governments of the US, EU, and other countries of the world regarding the further preservation of the sanctions regime against Russia? How long will the current multilateral coalition of countries that have introduced punitive measures against the aggressor continue to support the sanctions, and what will be the conditions for their modification — easing or strengthening? What are the conditions and indicators for reviewing the sanctions in one direction or another in the context of the implementation of the Minsk agreements? These and other questions require clear answers in order to achieve peace in the region and restore respect for international law.
