Summary/Abstract: The article presents the anthropometric principle in designating andknowing the reality. Two perspectives of the metaphorical transfer based on theanthropometric principle are proposed: from the human to the extrahuman fieldand vice versa. It is illustrated with elements of (folk) metrology where somatismswith proper meaning function as units of measurement (foot, palm, toe etc.); themetaphorical meanings from dictionaries are presented and the existence of ananthropometric somatic symbolism in phraseological contexts is demonstrated.
