Summary/Abstract: Phraseology is a crucial part of a language system. On the one hand, it reminds about past events and customs, on the other hand it allows the speaker to express his attitude to the subject matter. Its importance for Polish language classes seems to be marginalized. This article concerns the role of phraseology in teaching Polish to Chinese students. It presents the most important categories of Polish phraseologisms, including the differences between the opinions of linguists and glottodidactitians. It also describes types of Chinese word links, their characteristics and origin. Due to the juxtaposition of the two systems, it was possible to define problems with learning Polish phraseologisms encountered by Chinese students. The article also presents the benefits of learning phraseologisms and shows how they can be used in classes of Polish as a foreign language.
