Summary/Abstract: This article provides overview of the regional economic integration principles and, in particular. characteristics applicable for the EU. The author discusses the long-term effects to the Bulgarian economy as a result of country’s accession to the EU after 2007. Those effects are defined as dynamic and they represent structural changes of the national economic system through the prism Single market integration. The paper provides empirical data on the effects over the GDP growth, business competitiveness and labor market.
