Summary/Abstract: This report reviews the consequences experienced by Bulgaria as a result of the delayed joining to the Schengen Area. Author explains the main purpose, functions and responsibilities among the Schengen Area member countries. The aim of the research is to analyze possible domestic and foreign political reasons which cause the postponement of the Bulgarian membership to the Schengen Area.
