Summary/Abstract: Interpretation is part of the research process that is conducted on the basis of a formulated interpretative hypothesis and contexts accompanying the reading. These activities are available to experts in literature. Compositions for children are not, in principle, subject to interpretation. Working on them should be determined by the perception capabilities of little readers, and thus what must be taken into account is the intersemiotic character of these texts, wherein the word image gesture is the most important. The comparison of Jutka’s Insomnia by Combrzyńska-Nogala and Anna and Mr Swallow by Gavriel Savita reveals thematic similarity and genre distinctions of both of the works.
