Summary/Abstract: The article presents the intensive pastoral activity of archbishop Wojciech Jastrzębiec both in terms of the development of the worship of God in cathedral, collegiate and parish churches, and in terms of the pastoral care of the believers. These tasks were realised by Jastrzębiec above all in the funding or reorganisation of the existing collegia of the clergy: canons (the collegiate churches in Warsaw, in Łowicz), mansionarii (the cathedrals in Poznań, Gniezno, the parish churches in Ruszcza and Stopnica), perpetual vicars (the cathedrals in Poznań and in Gniezno, the St. Florian collegiate church in Kraków), poenitentiarii (the cathedral in Gniezno), the establishment of preachers (Stopnica, Łowicz), of the rectors of parish and collegiate schools (Ruszcza, Stopnica, Łowicz) and the corrections of the rubrics of liturgical books. During his tenure as bishop (the bishop of Poznań: 1399–1412, the bishop of Kraków: 1412–1423, the archbishop of Gniezno: 1423–1436) he issued a total of nine sets of regulations which established or reorganised the previously mentioned collegia. In the regulations for the cathedral of Gniezno of 1426 (which was promulgated by a papal bull of 1431, and in its extended version of 1428) he not only handled the external aspects of the worship but above all he established a collegium of four poenitentiarii, reformed the collegia of the mansionarii and perpetual vicars, he established the lectors of canon law and theology for the instruction of the clergy of the diocese. These activities were supposed to serve two purposes formulated in the harangues of the regulations: the enrichment of the liturgy (divine service) and the revival of the devotion of the believers.
