Summary/Abstract: The chapter presents theoretical bases of scientific research, including deductive and inductive inference and two research strategies: correlation and experimental models. The characteristics of a good experiment are also described as well as sampling, selected experimental models, quasi-experiment plans and factors which distub the internal validity of an experiment. Three education experiments conducted by the author of the chapter are also described, for which programmes using metaphorical thinking, verbal, visual and multimodal metaphors, and artistic expression had been prepared.
