Summary/Abstract: This study presents a part of a larger research dealing with the components of self-image based on self-portraits written by primary-school pupils – the various linguistic aspects of naming their characteristics in the self-portraits. The research is based on the realization that the monitoring units of psychological content analysis can be personal documents, case studies, life stories, and biographies. According to the multifactorial theory of the self-concept, the repeated behaviours observed by the individual about him-/herself and the past experiences are transformed into self-schemas. This perspective is the starting point of the idea that the contents of these already developed self-schemas are verbalized in the self-portraits.
