Summary/Abstract: A literary text plays a very important role in foreign language teaching practice. It develops language skills as it enriches vocabulary, affects the fluency of constructing correct and fluent statements, both written and spoken. But not only. By processing the linguistic content of a literary text, its recipients reveal its multi-layered structure: reading becomes a means of conveying cultural content, it allows for the interpretation of content in an intercultural perspective. An extremely important issue for glottodidactics is the right choice of literary texts suitable for the level of language learners. The article presents the possibilities of using a literary text as an auxiliary tool for learning the language and as an object of literary education. Strategies and mechanisms of adaptation are discussed based on the examples from series named “Read in Polish”.
