Summary/Abstract: The paper discusses teaching grammar in Polish Saturday schools in the UK. The teaching is based on programmes and textbooks prepared for pupils attending schools in Poland whereas the needs of Saturday schools’ pupils whose Polish is becoming their second language have not been researched and recognised. The Saturday schools’ pupils expect that like in their English schools, grammar should help them in communicating more effectively. The paper provides a list of needs that when met will enable to teach grammar efficiently.
