Summary/Abstract: The article focuses on epideictic rhetoric, and the subject of its rhetorical analysis are classical rhetorical statements, i.e. laudations presented on the occasion of granting the Lublin Kamień award for poetry. The analysis is guided, first of all, by the thought expressed by Gorgias: laudando augere vituperandoque rursus adfligere. In addition to general issues related to the entire communication situation, particular attention was paid to the argumentative aspect and elocution issues, which in laudations referring to the masters of the poetic word is of particular importance. The enlargement by praising, indicated by Gorgias, is done here mainly through the elocution level, making rhetorical (in terms of the purpose) speech a form of poetry about poetry (when it comes to the linguistic form of expression – elocutio).
