Summary/Abstract: The article analyses linguistic elements that shape the relation between the employer and the employee in workplace-based press. Chosen issues of the Echo Chełmka magazine published between 1934 and 1958 provide the research material. The analysis includes lexical units (for instance, ways of calling employees which incorporate valuating them), stylistic devices (such as addressing the reader directly, irony, rhetorical questions), and the thematic scope of the magazine (the workplace context, reprimands, and praises). The wide time frame has pointed to constant and changing elements in the mentioned categories. Headlines of announcements about reprimands and dismissals of workers – which had a persuasive character – are yet another significant element presented in this article.
