Summary/Abstract: The main purpose of the article is the characteristics of medical terminology based on the analysis of the Slovak specialization paper in the field of orthodontics. In the first part of the article the author presents the main definitions, subject of terminology research and defines the most important features of terms. Then presents researches and authors of the most important Polish and Slovak publications in that field. The theoretical part is followed by analysis of Slovak language material enriched with numerous examples of medical names and their derivatives. The article ends with conclusions summarizing the results of the analysis and the issues raised in the study.
