Summary/Abstract: The analysis of the relations between motivation and methodology is one of the basic pillars of the foreign languages teaching/learning process; and much of the research developed in applied linguistics during the last decades has been focused on the exploration of the most effective model. We recognize that the student´s intrinsic motivation is essential to succeed or to fail in this process; but at the same time; we have also to weight the great amount of motivation that the teacher can provide his/her students; and that the methodology he/she made use of plays a crucial role in it. Motivating students is a very complex process; but some strategies can help them to adopt more positive attitudes towards the target language. Consequently; in our paper; we examine different methods which can be used within the classroom; concluding with a series of proposals for the language teachers to adopt certain attitudes and methods to succeed in their final goal: help their students to optimize the foreign language learning process.
